The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has formally declared his presidential ambition to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu made the declaration on Monday during a meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tinubu who spoke with journalists at the Presidential Villa after a closed door meeting with the president said the visit gave him the opportunity to make his presidential ambition formally known to the president.
He however said that he would continue to consult with the people of Nigeria ahead of the 2023 election.
Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State, said he would like to continue with the good work of his party, APC, in government.
This is as he dismissed the position that a kingmaker cannot become a king.
It would be recalled that president Buhari had last week during an interview he granted Channels Television said he was open to anyone becoming his successor.
Said he: “I am not interested in who becomes the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress as I am open to the emergence of anyone.
“No. Let him come, whoever it is.”
