180 stranded Nigerians return from Libya

180 stranded Nigerians arrived Nigeria on Monday, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has announced.

NEMA which received the returnees said there were 82 female adults, two female children and 11 female infants.

The adults were 79 male, one male child and five male infants.

They make a total of 95 females and 85 males.

The returnees arrived Nigeria aboard Buraq Air with flight number UZ 189 – 190 and registration number 5A-DMG which departed MJI Airport Tripoli, Libya and landed MMIA Cargo Wing, Ikeja, Lagos at 9:10 p.m. on Monday.

Welcoming the returnees to Nigeria, the Coordinator, NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office, Alhaji Idris Muhammed, enjoined them to make better use of their bitter experiences in positive ways by turning a new leaf and forging ahead in life in view of the the dangers and risks that they had survived.

He enjoined all the segments of the society to see the menace of irregular migrations as emergency situation.

He said that any situation where a life was under threat was considered to be emergency risk and all hands must be on deck to stop it.

He called on the media, non-governmental organisations, government agencies and parents to work against irregular migration through continuous enlightenment and awareness creation.
