There is urgent need to review Nigeria’s educational system to reflect the current realities of the present time, the President of Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs, Summy Smart Francis, has said.
Summy Smart who is the Chief Executive Officer of the world’s largest entrepreneurship network with over 12.9 million members located in 20 African countries as well as United States of America and Canada said that the current educational system in the country did not meet the requirements of the 21st century.

The young entrepreneur made the statements on the educational system during the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Exhibition/Inter-Platoon competition held to draw curtains on SAED activities for the 2019 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1) orientation course.
Francis while speaking at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko noted that the curriculum should be worked upon if the country must overcome her present economic travails.
He added that corps members should add value to their certificate by venturing into business in order to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the land.
“The driving force to succeed should be that the young ones harness their potentials to develop the economy. It is pertinent to see the young brains showcasing their ingenuity in every sphere of human endeavour.”
He added: “I have said it long time ago that Africans, not only Nigerians should begin to look inward and adopt strategies that will make them economically independent.”
Francis said he wanted policy makers in the continent to study market trends, and then proffer solutions to the identified problems rather than banking on the obsolete laws and policies.
“It is not just about creating jobs but we need to look inward to monitor market trends around us so as to provide solution to the myriad of challenges bedevilling our economy.
“At Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs, we started reality show five years ago and we have been able to showcase entrepreneurs who are into business, and we empower them. This also educates viewers at home, making them understand that if young entrepreneurs can do this, then they, the viewers can also do it.
“So, this is about getting a picture of the kind of business they want to engage in, and in turn get to know the nitty gritty and by so doing, will know the best way to get established”.
The South African based entrepreneur charged the media to play a pivotal role of investigative journalism and balanced reporting to educate the audience members on the need to key into the global initiatives that would make them become better entrepreneurs.
The Founder of Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs Trust Fund, an online innovative co-operative platform randomly selected five corps members for business finance scholarship and another 1000 free tickets to attend Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs Empowerment Nigeria Annual Convention holding on Saturday, 14th December, 2019 at International Event Centre, (The Dome), Akure, Ondo State.
The State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio challenged the corps members to learn new ways of doing things so that they could have an edge in the competitive market.
Mrs. Akpabio thanked the President of Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs for honouring the invitation to mentor the younger generation.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Assistant Director/Head SAED, Mrs. Itohan Ehimwenma, hailed the commitment and the collective sacrifices of the facilitators and trainers.
She implored the corps members to go into the places of primary assignment to empower themselves as well as the people in their host communities.
The competition produced new breed of entrepreneurs among the corps members who are ready to take the business world by surprise with the production of what they have learnt in the last ten days.
