The match between Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets final Group B game against Togo at the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Championship has been postponed to Thursday over a heavy rain.

The match was originally fixed for Wednesday at 5pm.

According to the team’s media officer, Francis Achi, the postponement was as a result of a heavy down pour which made the university stadium in Accra, Ghana, to be in an unplayable state for the match.

Achi said that the game would be played at the same ground by 9 a.m. Nigeria time.

The Eaglets need a point from the game against Togo to seal their passage to semi-final, as Burkina Faso is currently topping the group with four points from two games.

The Eaglets occupy second position with same number of points but with an inferior goal difference.

In the same vein the other Group B game between Burkina Faso and Niger has also been postponed for same reason.

The match will also be played on Thursday morning simultaneously with the Eaglets match.

The Eaglets’ striker, Rapha Adams, who scored the winning goal against Junior Mena of Niger, assured Nigerians that the team would work very hard to beat Togo in their encounter.

Adams said that the Eaglets would do all they could to beat Togo and qualify for the semi-final, noting that winning would be the collective effort of all the players on the pitch.
