Two persons were injured on Friday when some residents of Sabo community in Mokola area of Ibadan clashed with operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps).

It was gathered that the clash occurred when operatives of the Amotekun Corps attempted to execute an arrest in the area, but were resisted by some members of the community.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

He said that two individuals were injured as a result of the clash.

“The said clash occurred between operatives of the Amotekun Corps and residents of Sabo, leaving two individuals injured,” he said.

The PPRO, however, said the reason for the attempted arrest of some residents of Sabo community by Amotekun operatives had not be presently ascertained.

Ayanlade said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abimbola Olugbenga, had ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
