Two arrested for robbing rice merchant in Sango Ota

The suspects

Two suspected armed robbers who dispossessed one Nonso Nwibo, a rice merchant, of cash sum of N120,000 at Ipamesan area of Sango Ota, have been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police command.

They are Sadiq Hassan and Kudus Rasak.

The suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota division, CSP Godwin Idehai, that robbers had invaded the shop of the said Nonso and robbed him of the amount.

They were reported to have also robbed him of his Techno handset at gun point.

Upon the distress call, the DPO quickly led his men to the scene, but on sighting the policemen, the robbers made to flee, but were hotly chased and one of them, Sadiq Hassan, was arrested with a locally made pistol while the other one escaped.

Following diligent investigation, the second suspect, Kudus Rasak, was apprehended on the April 19, 2021, at a hideout at Owode Ijako.

A live cartridge was recovered from him.

The two suspects have confessed being the ones who robbed Nonso of his valuables.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
