Tunji Bello: A living gem at 65, By Tunde Fabunmi

Tunji Bello

Hon. Tunji Bello, celebrating his 65 birthday today, invalidates the age-long saying of the Yoruba – Man is not cherished alive, but celebrated as idol at death. I was not close to TB in our Concord newspaper days to know his uncommon positive traits as I do today. Tunji Bello is a celebrated living gem, and the ceaseless flow of tributes,  prayers and best wishes to spice your birthday today affirm your contributions to humanity, with friends, colleagues and associates getting the fair shares.

That Tunji Bello is an uncommon giver is not debatable. He may not be as rich as his two mentors – M.K.O. Abiola and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PBAT – his mode of giving to the needy is the same as his mentors’ – soul- lifting. Like MKO Abiola, before demise, TB and PBAT change the tears of the needy to healing laughter.

What TB and his family gave to the Lagos State University, LASU, Epe Campus, is worth more than what many state governments will celebrate with day long siren blasting entourage and paid colour adverts in grade A newspapers and magazines.

Uncountable number of people have also benefitted from TB’s act of unconditional giving. The fund raising for the forthcoming 50th celebration of my secondary school, Baptist Secondary School, Ago Are Basega, Oyo State got a big dose of TB problem solving giving.

Hon.Tunji Bello has also been a ladder of growth for many people I know particularly in the media circle.

Charity, which God cherishes, is your spiritual gold medal that will make you sure candidate for heaven hall of honour.

Like your name, Olatunji, your earthly honour has risen, and it will never fade. Gold never fades, your name will not fade even after your transition at 100+ in Jesus name.

Do have a honeyed birthday celebration as a living gem today and many years to come.
