President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
The action is pending the confirmation of the Senate.
The 23rd CJN took the oath of office and signed the oath register at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja on Friday.
Kekere-Ekun is the second woman to be the CJN.
Aloma Mukhtar who was sworn in on July 16, 2012 as CJN by the president at the time, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is the first woman to hold the position..
The National Judicial Council, NJC, recommended Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to President Bola Tinubu for appointment as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN at its 106th meeting held penultimate Thursday.
The recommendation followed the bowing out of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola on August 22.
