										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Nigeria has started the vaccination of its citizens against the COVID-19 virus on Friday in Abuja.</p>
<p>The vaccine, after undergoing assessment by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDC, was confirmed to have positive results.</p>
<p>Dr Cyprian Ngon, the Family Physician, National Hospital, Abuja, was the first person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine immunisation, while the second person was Dr Tahir Yunusa, a Pathologist with University of Abuja Teaching Hospital.</p>
<p>Ngon had been the Head of the COVID-19 Isolation Centre at National Hospital Abuja since February 2020 when the virus was first detected in Nigeria.</p>
<p>The third person was Dr Nuru Samudeen, National Hospital Abuja Family Physician at the Accident and Emergency unit.</p>
<p>The country was now set to go ahead and use the 3.924 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine which arrived the country on March 2 through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the federal government had launched a website where Nigerians could log on and register for the vaccination.</p>
<p>Government, therefore, advised citizens to log on to the website on NPHCDC website.</p>
<p>The healthcare development agency said that “to register for the COVID-19 vaccination, visit our website — nphcda.gov.ng — and click on ‘COVID-19 vaccination e-registration.”</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Israel has vaccinated more than 10.2 per cent of its population of about 9.3 million in less than two weeks, since the vaccination campaign began on December 20, 2020.</p>
<p>The number of people vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus in Israel has reached more than 950,000, the state’s Ministry of Health said on Friday.</p>
<p>The number of vaccinations given on Thursday reached a daily high of 153,400, after the daily number was also over 150,000 on Tuesday and Wednesday, the ministry reported in a statement.</p>
<p>The number of coronavirus cases in Israel reached 423,262 on Friday, with 3,319 new cases since Thursday evening.</p>
<p>The virus death toll in Israel increased to 3,325 with seven new fatalities, while the number of patients in serious condition rose from 661 to 679, out of 1,089 hospitalised patients.</p>
<p>The total recoveries rose to 376,322 after 2,184 new recovered cases were added, while active cases stand at 43,615.</p>
