It’s throwback Thursday abi? Sometimes I don’t know what day of the week it is because nobody tells me anything these days.

But during the week, I heard a radio programme in which a man confessed he has neither spoken nor ‘touched’ his wife in seventeen (17) years. He did not tell us the origin of the quarrel except that his wife is pig headed. The man claimed two reasons for not opting for divorce

1. They have children together the eldest of which just graduated
2. He is a church worker

Guess what, the presenter advised the man to move on and divorce the lady. He blames the lady for whatever it was – yes!

This morning, I heard another one on TikTok – a lady confessed that her friend just divorced a polygamous man because in the six years of their marriage, she only shared a bed with the man four (4) times.

I was the kind of man who would give my lovely wife the cold shoulder, but the Osun girl knows how to make her husband return from his pigheadedness. I doubt if I could last more than a week with a cold shoulder. Now, I don’t even have a shoulder any more.

But peeps, what’s going on in homes? And why are we taking domestic issues to social and mainstream media. I listened to a husband and ex-wife discussing some of their most intimate issues before a panel of judges this morning too on TikTok. Nothing was left out.

Have I been here too long that I am now arcane?! In 38 years of my relationship with my wife, I recall only three incidents in which outsiders needed to counsel us. Mark you, I am not the sweetest husband or boyfriend on earth, but wifey handles her troubles with tact and wisdom. Ki lo n sele?

The strike was started on Thursday and has been having an adverse effect on the economy.

According to the Presidency, a meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, October 4 and letter sent out to participants.

“By its tripartite nature, the committee is made up of persons from the public sector, (Federal and State Governments) and the private sector made up of the largest private employer group and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA).

“Other members include the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES),” the Presidency said of those that would take part in the meeting.

The statement was issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

The Presidency said that it had understood that the combined leadership of the unions had met and deliberated on government’s position.

According to the Presidency, they had “now set in motion a process of consultations with their constituent members to determine their next line of action.”

The Presidency gave the assurance that the federal government was doing all it could to ensure that the strike was called off.

The statement was issued by the management, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, MMA Terminal 2, Ikeja, Lagos.

The alert was in obvious reaction to the planned nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over the non-implementation of the new minimum wage by the government.

NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, announced the decision to commence a total strike on Wednesday after the meeting between the leadership of the labour union and government did not yield any positive result.

The statement by the MMA 2 reads in part:

“Dear Customers, Please be informed that your first choice terminal – Murtala Muhammed Airport Two (MMA 2) – will open for business as usual tomorrow, Thursday, September 27.”

It has been engaging the government on the issue over time, but there seems to be no headway yet.

Only recently, it gave the government a 14 days ultimatum to act or face an industrial action.

The ultimatum will expires today.

In reaction to the inaction of the government, the NLC has called on its workers to be ready to for a show down.

The message issued on Tuesday was by the General Secretary of the NLC, Peter Ozo-Eson.

“Representatives of organized labour, after due consultation and meetings, have therefore agreed that all unions and our civil society allies should embark on a warning strike from midnight of Wednesday, 26th September, 2018.

“All affiliates and state councils are therefore expected to mobilise their members nationwide to ensure total compliance,” he said.
