The group, in a statement by its Amir, Imam Nojim Jimoh, described the elevation as well-deserved.

“For those of us who have followed his trajectory since he enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992, this appointment manifests a resounding endorsement of over three decades of unwavering commitment to professionalism, discipline, and the rule of law.

“The numerous public testimonies celebrating Disu’s professional excellence are a testament to a deeper narrative. The Companion notes with pride that his exemplary conduct is rooted in the thorough Islamic upbringing provided by the parents renowned for their steadfast commitment to the Deen of Islam,” the statement reads in part.

The group stated that Disu’s career served as a shining example of how foundational values of honesty, justice, and service to humanity could translate into exceptional public leadership.

While The Companion celebrated the president’s recognition of Disu’s merits, it remind the new Acting IGP of the weight of the responsibility attached to the new post.

“As he steps into this role, we urge him to remain conscious of being representative of the ‘best of mankind’ by enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong.

“In particular, the organisation wishes to register the fact that Nigeria as the most populous black nation deserves a policing legacy that is efficient, empathetic, and technologically advanced,” the group said.

It added that “With daunting tasks on the horizon including the general elections as well as internal security complexities, our prayer is that Disu’s leadership will be the compass that guides the nation toward stability.

“Allah (SWT) shall provide him with His inimitable guidance and protection. We equally pray that he triumphs over every challenge and that his tenure is marked by unprecedented peace and security for all Nigerians.”

The condemnation was made on Wednesday in a statement issued by the group’s national amir, Imam Nojeem Jimoh.

Deeply steeped in grief, The Companion said it viewed the escalating attacks not as isolated incidents, but as a suspected grand design to systematically undermine and target Muslim populations in the state.

“We actually fear a sinister strategy is at play probably calculated to weaken the center by rendering peripheral communities utterly vulnerable through cumulative violence.

“The Companion finds it unacceptable that serial assaults have deliberately targeted Muslim-dominated areas, including Oke Ode and others. The Kwara State Government must recognize that the current trajectory is rapidly eroding the confidence of Muslim citizens in the state’s ability to protect them

“This erosion of trust carries serious degenerative implications that the government may ultimately find embarrassing if left unaddressed,” the group warned.

To restore security and public faith, The Companion urged the Kwara State Government to move beyond the traditional, time-wasting practice of setting up reactionary committees.

Instead, it demanded the following:

“Utilization of Existing Data: Immediately harvest and implement findings from pre-existing studies regarding the socio-economic conditions of Woro and adjoining communities.

“Proactive Security Architecture: Move from a reactive posture to a proactive system that anticipates and neutralizes threats before they manifest.

“Genuine Political Accountability: The political class, which often exploits local information for campaign purposes, must now demonstrate genuine knowledge of these areas by volunteering meaningful, tangible support for Woro and other devastated communities.”

The Companion said it stood in solidarity with the victims and insisted that, in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as Amended, the protection of lives and property must be treated with the urgency and sincerity the tragedy demanded.

The group described the reportage as unprofessional and insensitive.

The condemnation was made in a statement issued on Monday by the group’s national amir, Imam Nojimdeen Jimoh, and its national publicity secretary, Professor Tunde Akanni.

“The reporting of such a sensitive event requires the highest level of accuracy, yet the narrative presented by Channels Television failed to capture the true essence and scale of the carnage at the house of worship.

“By glossing over the specifics of the Maiduguri mosque bombing, the station has worsened a lopsided public perception of the security situation. This is more than a mere editorial slip.  It is a fundamental failure to provide a thorough account of events, especially when those events involve the loss of lives during a period of heightened religious and emotional sensitivity,” the reads in part.

The statement reads further: “This approach runs directly contrary to the principles of Conflict Sensitive Journalism, as championed by UNESCO. Professionalism dictates that in a volatile environment, journalists must report in a way that must consciously be supportive of de-escalating tensions.

“It becomes viciously self-serving when a broadcaster like Channels fails to accurately report the bombing of a mosque and the killing of worshippers. It creates a vacuum of information that can be filled by misinformation, further polarizing the society.

“The Companion views this recklessness by Channels as an exacerbation of an already tense national atmosphere which Channels itself may not survive if it chooses to sustain this devious brand of reporting.”

The Companion said to ignore or under-report the targeted killing of Muslims in Maiduguri on the eve of Christmas was to fail the test of inclusivity and social responsibility.

The group argued that the action of Channels suggested “a hierarchy of victimhood that has no place in a professional newsroom or a democratic society.”

It called on the management of Channels Television “to immediately offer a sincere apology to Nigerian Muslims for the lack of precision, and utter disregard for professionalism and even the Christian ethos they seem to be obsessed with.”

It added: “We therefore urge the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) as well as the renowned Society for Peace Studies and Practice, SPSP, to support Channels TV with sessions on Conflict Sensitive Journalism, hoping they are open to redemption. Nigeria cannot afford a media establishment like Channels that appears to have abandoned peace for self-defined biases constituting a huge disgrace to Nigerian journalism.”

‎‎In a statement, the association of Muslim men in business and the professions called on all Nigerian youths to get engaged with current socio-economic developments playing out so fast with all the seriousness they can muster to emerge as successful and happy stakeholders.

The statement signed by its new Director of Public Affairs, Professor Tunde Musibau Akanni, was made at the end of the association’s three-day National Elective Conference, held from Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Peace Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The event was attended by members from across the country, and graced by traditional rulers including the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, and the Aala of Ilala, Oba Abdulfatai Oladega Talabi.

‎‎Speaking on the conference theme, “Thriving Amidst Adversity: Strategies for Survival in Nigeria’s Challenging Economy,” the keynoter, Dr. Sulayman Ibrahim urged Nigerians to shun corruption, adopt prudent lifestyles, and explore sustainable entrepreneurship.

The conference further encouraged Nigerian youths to be creative, diligent, and innovative rather than being reactionary to prevailing economic realities.

‎In the ensuing resolutions contained in the communique derived from the conference, The Companion urged the government to, among others, provide infrastructure and improve security to attract investments and boost Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs.

‎‎The association ratified a nine-member Board of Trustees for The Companion Zakat and Zadaqah Foundation, headed by former National Amir Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike, and resolved to grant its youth wing, The Dawn, operational autonomy while mentoring members for seamless integration into the main body.

‎‎The conference ended with the inauguration of a new National Executive Council led by Imam Nojeem Jimoh as National Amir, alongside other elected officers.

‎‎The association expressed appreciation to all dignitaries, guests, and participants who contributed to the success of the 1447AH (2025) National Elective Conference.

The charge is contained in a release signed by the National Amir of the Islamic Organization, Engr. Kamil Olalekan, and the National Publicity Secretary, Muideen Adeleke, on the occasion of the 1446 AH (2025) Id-el-Fitr.

The statement congratulated Muslims globally, for the successful completion of one of the all-important five pillars of Islam during which adherents jostle to curry the mercy of Allah through devotional activities and charity.

The foremost Islamic group described Ramadan as a precious window of grace, during which the followers of Prophet Muhammad (Solla Lhahu alaehi wa salaam) attain the highest level of spiritual rebirth, required to navigate the journey of life in line with the injunctions of Allah.

The Companion enjoined a strict exhibition of piety as demonstrated by individual Muslims throughout the just concluded Ramadan fast, in their public and private life, to attain the pleasure of their Creator.

“It’s imperative for the adherents of Islam to ensure the replication of the pristine piety associated with Ramadan in all their affairs, so as to earn the pleasure of Almighty Allah,” the group stressed.

While noting the high rate of inflation occasioned by the increasing cost of essential goods and food, the Islamic group encouraged Muslims to intensify the meritorious act of charity demonstrated during the holy month, through payment of Zakat annually, as well as through regular offering of Sadaqat.

The Islamic Organization condemned the massacre of no fewer than 19 Hausa hunters who were lynched by a mob in Uromi Edo State and burnt to death on Friday after being accused of being kidnappers.

“We condemn in strong terms the recent barbaric act of extrajudicial killing of innocent Hausa hunters in Uromi, Edo State and pray to Allah to grant the victims the status of martyrs even as we caution against any form of reprisal attack,” the group remarked.

The Companion urged the Federal Government to declare forthwith a state of emergency on security while ensuring adequate regulation of the activities of local vigilante groups to guard against excesses, impunity, abuse and the resort to self-help which has fast become the hallmark of community policing in the country.

“We hereby commiserate with the families, friends and indeed the Muslim Ummah on the unfortunate incident even as the organisation preaches against all forms of reprisal attack to sustain the unity of the nation,” the statement concluded.

The Association of Muslim Women in Business and Profession (The Criterion), Oyo State District, gave the advice at a lecture organised in Ibadan on Sunday.

The association’s Global Amirah, Alhaja Sururah Abdulmojeed, said it was better to guide and engage rather than enforce their decision as parents on the children’s chosen careers and future.

The lecture is entitled, “Pathway to Career Development of Nigeria: Engaging Youths Positively”.

Abdulmojeed said many parents had wrongly chosen careers for their children without considering their potential and ability to cope therein, thus leading to academic failure.

“Parent should be able to identify the weaknesses and strengths of their children and guide them appropriately and not to force,” she said.

Also, the Amir of the Association of Muslim Men in Business and Profession (The Companion), Malam Nureen Sakariyau, called on parents to allow their children to pursue positive careers as they grow.

According to Sakariyau, parents should erase the mindset that a child can only be successful by studying Medicine, Law or Engineering.

“Each child has his or her potential and as parents, we need to relate with them to find the potential, unlock it and the child will do well,” he said.

He, however, urged the children to also listen to their parents because they had seen it all and understood what they, as children, wouldn’t understand.

“They should allow their parents to guide them because they have seen it all and can lead them to a good career progression,” Sakariyau said.

The guest lecturer at the event, Malam Lawal Yusuf, urged parents to imbibe good morals and integrity in their children, engaging them in their overall development.

“Be cautious of things that will discourage them from achieving their goals; don’t focus only on their Western education, but also inculcate good morals for their behavioural progression.

“Study the children’s uniqueness and show them the way because many things shield them from the pathway of development as they grow in life,” Yusuf said.

The lecturer identified age and maturity as major factors determining a child’s career development.

He then urged parents to engage positively to prevent them from being distracted on getting to higher institutions.

The Companion noted the high level of piety exhibited by Muslims during the holy month, stressing that “Nigeria would be a better place if the leaders and the led could replicate such piety in their public and private lives at all the times.”

It charged Muslims in particular to always follow the injunctions of Allah and the approval of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in all situations to enable them provide the requisite illumination for the society to thrive.

While lauding the upscale in spiritual activities and virtues that characterised the Ramadan season, The Companion contended that activities such as regular recitation of the Holy Qur’an, superogatory prayers, renewed brotherhood, and care for the less-privileged in the society remained vital components of Islamic practice during the remaining eleven months of the Muslim calendar.

Referring to the subsisting inclement economic climate among other challenges being experienced by the teeming masses, the statement charges Muslims not to despair.

The Muslim group equally enjoined all Nigerians to eschew bitterness, hatred and wickedness in the face of rising inflation, stressing that all hands must be on deck to fast-track the restoration of sanity in critical sectors of national life.

The Companion recalled the recent passage of one of the stakeholders of the association, Professor Muhammad Yaqub, on completion of Umrah in Makkah and commiserated with the family, friends and colleagues on the irreparable loss.

“We must admit that the death of one of us, Professor Muhammad Yaqub, was painful, yet, we have to take solace in the fact that he died as a Muslim at a privileged location (Makkah),” the association said.

The religious group prays Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the don, accept his return and gift him with jannatul firdaus and  grant the family left behind the fortitude to bear the great loss.

“No country has ever developed without passing through the turbulence. But patriotism on the part of the government and the governed, makes most of them to overcome their teething challenges,” said the group.

The Muslim group equally enjoined the Nigerian youth not to lose hope in the nation but join the legion of forward looking individuals whose belief in the Nigerian project remained unshaken.

The Companion maintained, that rather than curse the leaders in frustration, the ongoing Ramadan season provided a veritable window for the righteous to explore, in the overall interest of the nation.

“It is imperative that adherents of Islam take maximum advantage of the ongoing Ramadan fast to seek restitution through various meritorious deeds, instead of venting their anger on the leaders,” said the group.

The Companion reminded the adherents of Islam of the need to prioritise giving out charity to assist many less-privileged Muslims to partake in the all-important annual spiritual rebirth.

Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan who spoke through his media aide, Shakirudeen Bankole, said that at no time was he invited by the anti-graft agency for questioning on allegations of corruption or any related offence.

While acknowledging that officials of the agency examined the books of the commission when he was still in office, he said NAHCON’s relevant officials provided all answers to the queries raised by the EFCC operatives.

“On my honour as a muslim and a decent family man, I make bold to say that not for once did the EFCC operatives on investigation mission at NAHCON consider it necessary to query me. You can’t find any evidence of my interface with contractors nor running any financial transaction in place of the relevant officials. If they run their checks ten times more, the result will remain same, that is, I don’t meddle with specialized responsibilities being a responsible professional myself.”

Assuring the muslim ummah and the general public of his untainted record while in office, Alhaji Hassan promised that his team of lawyers would soon seek redress against the publishers of the online report for “indulging in reckless falsehood bereft of any iota of truth.”

Regarding the recent reception held in his honour by The Companion muslim group, Alhaji Hassan further noted that it was mischievous for the so called news portal to celebrate the absence of certain individuals and officials.

According to him, although he is a member of The Companion, he too was invited to the reception like the rest guests even as it was dedicated to honouring him for being their worthy ambassador.

“It may well interest those insinuating their biases in the guest selection that The Companion ranks beyond their pettiness. We’re talking about a reputable association of high profile professionals and decent businessmen of the best rating around the world.  They know what is best for whatever design they have.  It is not for some idlers to volunteer unsolicited trifles,” Alhaji Hassan added.

The Companion, an association of Muslim men in business and in professions made the declaration in a press statement by it’s National Amir,  Engr. Kamil Olalekan, and the National Public Affairs Secretary, Alhaji Muideen Adeleke, said the late Sheikh Abu would be missed for his Islamic erudition, piety and philantropism.

”Sheikh Hafiz Abu’s transition is a great loss to the Ummah and humanity as a whole for what he represented,” The Companion stressed.

Acknowledging that the late cleric provided it, free of charge, the venue it used for the weekly Islamic lecture at Surulere, Lagos, The Companion prayed Allah for the repose of his soul and to grant the Muslim Ummah and the immediate family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Muslim organisation said the deceased was humble, humane but firm and was a disciplined individual, who equally played the role of a bridge-builder, among adherents of Islam especially in the South West geopolitical zone.

”The departed Sheikh led an exemplary life full of lessons to both the old and young ones in accordance with the injunctions of Allah and Prophet Muhammad(SAW),” the Islamic organisation said.

Born in the Ita Akanni area of Lagos on 10th August 1922, Sheikh Abu attended the Lagos Government School, Ansaruddeen School and Al-Azhar University, Cairo where he obtained the Bachelor of Arts degree in Arabic.

He spent 14 years in Cairo (1944-1958) acquiring diverse experiences of Islamic culture.
