Two teachers of Zaria Children School, Kaduna State, were on Thursday arraigned before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Tudun-Wada Zaria, over alleged defilement of a minor student.

Zaria Children School, located at Queen Elizabeth Road, G.R.A, Zaria, is one of the famous and oldest schools in the city, which was built by the colonial masters.

The prosecutor, ASC Mustapha Abdulkadir, said the two teachers and three other teachers (now at large) were standing trial on charge hinged on an unnatural offence (lesbianism).

He said the alleged offence is contrary to section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017.

The prosecutor told the court that on September 11, one Yahaya Aliyu of Tudun Jukun area, Zaria, came to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Zaria Area Command and reported against the defendants.

He said the defendants are Atoyebi-Eunice Temitope (female) of No. 2, Dogon Bauchi, Sabon Gari, Zaria and Adeyemo Damilola (female) of Hanwa New Extension, Zaria and three others now at large.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants are teachers at Zaria Children School.

He alleged that sometimes on September 18, when the nominal complainant’s wife was bathing the victim, an 11-year-old pupil and a Junior Secondary School (JSS-1) student at the school, she observed that the victim was molested.

“Upon interrogation at home, the victim mentioned the names of the defendants and alleged that it started sometimes in 2023, when the victim was in primary three.

“The victim also alleged that the first defendant, Temitope (known to the victim as Mrs Okasha) took the victim to a toilet near class 4A during long break lesson period and put an object into her private part.

“She alleged that the incident happened over three different times and further alleged that Mrs Okasha threatened to inform kidnappers to abduct her if she disclose the affair to anybody,’’ he said.

The prosecutor also told the court that on September 16, when the school resumed, the second defendant Adeyemo Damilola called the victim upstairs (the secondary school section) and entered female toilet with her.

He added that while in the female toilet, the second defendant inserted something into her private part using an object that looks like a syringe.

The prosecutor told the court that the alleged actions of the defendants violate section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law 2017 as amended.

The presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Rabi Hashim adjourned matter till October 22, for further mention, pending legal advice from the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice.

She also ordered that the defendants be remanded at Zaria Correctional Centre.

News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, contacted the school on the matter for possible hint on the three staff still at large.

However, Mr Apoju Sunday-Adeyemi, principal of the school, who did not deny the allegations against the teachers said the issues were still allegations and investigations were ongoing.

“I don’t want to comment further on a matter that is before the court of law,’’ he said.

Online Health Company Limited has launched a one-stop hospital for all through a telemedicine app called “Ohealth Odoctor”.

The app which was launched on Tuesday bridges the gap between health consultants and the public by bringing both parties together on-air for effective health delivery.

The company said the recent and sudden effect of the COVID 19 pandemic had brought the world to the reality of how vulnerable human beings could be if there were no functional health facilities devoid of too many layers of protocols and bottlenecks.

It said there was no gainsaying that at the critical moment of human life, there was an ultimate and immediate need to bring health solutions closer to people where most needed to keep hope alive and preserve the human race as much as possible.

“The need to provide people with a better, faster and affordable health delivery system propelled the development of Ohealth initiative,” said Dr. Temitope Faronbi, Neurologist and founder of Ohealth Odoctor .

“In the past, people’s experience in accessing healthcare has been mired with great difficulties, thus making them seek alternative care which oftentimes are not the best and have negative effects on their overall medical situation.”

Stating further, the founder said, “Ohealth takes into consideration the purchasing power of the majority who cannot afford so much to see a doctor and developed three models in form of text chats, audio and video calls which allow anyone to talk to a qualified medical doctor and specialist with as low as N40 per chat, N100 per minute for audio call and N300 per minutes for video call.”

She added that the medical doctors on the App platform were committed to the mission of saving lives and preserving human race.

“They are going to be 24/7 available to attend to people across the globe as much as possible. Where they can’t due to unforeseen circumstances, you can book a session with them by dropping messages that will be attended to within 24 hours,” she said.

Also, in addressing the issue of confidentiality, she affirmed: “Health information is personal and doctors are trained to respect and apply the rule of confidentiality when interfacing with patients even till after death.” “Similarly, the app also runs in a way that information is encrypted between the doctor and the patient.”

The new terrain of online health in which Ohealth is introducing is designed for global reach for the purpose of medical consultation and other health services customized for individual needs at an affordable price.

The telemedicine app is a user-friendly app and works with android phones at a go which comes with text chat, audio and video call, thus making people live a healthy lifestyle.

Hence, this new but effective health initiative will improve healthcare services and create an environment of trust and confidence for all stakeholders in Nigeria and globally, the company stated.
