The decision was taken by the security committee of the institution after a review of the security architecture of the school.

According to the management in a statement by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, the curfew commences on Wednesday between 12 midnight and 5.00 a.m.

The release stated that all students and members of staff must present their identity when requested for by security operatives.

It added that all male visitors to the female hostels would not be allowed into the hall.

Female guests, it said, would be screened before gaining entrance.

It warned that any male visitor found loitering around female hostel beyond 8.30 p.m. would be considered a threat and dealt with accordingly.

The school management had announced that its security situation would be reviewed to prevent future invasion of the school’s hostel by robbers.

The Chairman, Council Committee on Security, University of Ibadan, Prof. Ademola Aremu, who spoke during a visit to the female hostel invaded by some robbers made the plan known.

He visited the scene with the vice chancellor.

Aremu said there was a pattern in the invasion of the school by robbers.

According to him, the robbers came when students were on holiday and not many of them were around.

It would be recalled that about a month ago, robbers invaded the university and went away with the belongings of the students, including phones and other materials.

The school had also at the time stressed that it would improve on the security situation in the school.
