The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the commission, Mr Torty Kalu, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

Kalu said the senior officers were promoted following their successful performance in the recently concluded written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the PSC.

He said the list of the successful officers had been formally conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police (I-G) for immediate implementation.

He listed the newly promoted CPs to the rank of AIGs to include Emmanuel Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Dantawaye Miller, Uche Ifeanyi, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru and Dankombo Morris.

Others are Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Jimoh, Simeon Akpanudom and Haruna Olufemi.

He also listed the newly promoted DCPs to CPs to include Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Egbetokun, Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran and Silas Aremu.

Others are Sylvester Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya and Rebecca Okereke,

He further said that 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACPs, were also, elevated to the rank of DCPs while 35 Chief Superintendents of Police, CSPs, were promoted to ACPs.

“The Chairman of the PSC, Mr Hashimu Argungu, has congratulated the newly promoted officers and described the elevations as a recognition of merit, dedication, and excellence in service.

“Argungu has urged the officers to redouble their efforts and justify their new ranks through unwavering commitment to effective policing and national security.

“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to the noble task of safeguarding lives and property.

“PSC will remain committed to transparency, merit, and adherence to global best practices in all promotion processes,” he said.

Spokesman for PSC, Mr Torty Kalu, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Kalu said that the physical and credential screening would hold between March 9 and April 18 across the country.

“Applicants who successfully completed the online recruitment registration exercise are requested to login to the recruitment portal on npfapplication.psc.gov.ng,

“This is to check their status and print the following documents which they must present at the screening venue on the date and time indicated in their invitation slip.

“The documents are guarantors form, application submission slip, invitation slip, credentials screening form and physical screening form,” he said.

He added that items to be presented during the screening include invitation slip with assigned TABLE and credential screening form.

“Other items to be presented are original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or card issued by NIMC, O’ Level (GCE/SSCE) Certificate and Birth Certificate or Declaration of age.

“LGA/State of Origin Certificate, Trade Test/Certificate for specialists only, duly completed and signed Guarantors form with photocopies and passports of referees attached would also be presented,” he said.

According to him, original and duplicate copies of credentials are to be neatly packaged in two separate white flat files, with recent passport photographs attached.

Kalu said applicants must appear at the various screening venues wearing white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts, and white stockings.

He said the screening exercise would take place at designated locations within each state/FCT as indicated on the invitation printout.

He also said that the recruitment exercise was absolutely free of charge without any pecuniary obligation.

He quoted the Chairman of PSC, Mr Hashimu Argungu, as pledging that the process would be conducted in the best tradition of transparency and accountability.

Argungu urged applicants to be wary of online impostors, scammers and other criminal elements who might want to take advantage of the recruitment process to defraud innocent applicants.

He warned that anyone found wanting would be arrested and prosecuted.

Mr Torty Kalu, the spokesman of PSC, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

He said the decision was reached following the DIG’s  exceptional performance in the commission’s written examination and oral interview.

Kalu said the new DIG began his career in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992, making it over three decades of distinguished service to his new role.

“Until his promotion, he served as the AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, where he was widely praised for his community policing initiatives and strategic operations.

“His career is decorated with numerous international and national accolades, including the 2024 Crime Buster of the Year for West and Central Africa,” he said.

Kalu said the chairman of PSC, Mr Hashimu Argungu, charged the new DIG to view his promotion as a call to greater responsibility.

Argungu expressed confidence that the new DIG’s expertise in technology-driven policing and stakeholder partnership would significantly strengthen the nation’s security architecture.

The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of PSC, Mr Torty Kalu, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the promotion of Mr Funsho Adegboye from AIG to DIG was ratified at the third plenary meeting of the commission presided over by its chairman, Mr  Hashimu Argungu.

Kalu said the commission also approved the promotion of Danjuma Aboki and Dansabo Idi from the rank of Commissioners of Police to AIGs.

The PSC spokesman said the promotion of the senior officers followed a rigorous and merit-based process, including successful written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the commission.

“In a landmark decision reflecting its commitment to career progression, the commission also approved the promotion of 26,119 Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II).

“This promotion is based on their outstanding performance in the recently concluded Departmental Selection Board Examination,” he said.

Kalu said the newly promoted DIG had served as the AIG in charge of the Police Mobile Force, PMF, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to him, with a distinguished career spanning decades, Adegboye has served in critical departments including Operations, Training, and Administration.

He said the new DIG had held command positions and had acquired international experience from the United Nations Missions in Kosovo, Liberia, Timor, and Somalia.

Kalu said Aboki, one of the newly promoted AIG was until his promotion, the CP in charge of the Police Command in Imo.

He said Idi had served as the Acting AIG in charge of Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja before his promotion.

Kalu said the PSC boss had congratulated the newly promoted officers, and pledged the commitment of PSC to transparency, meritocracy, and best practices in all appointment and promotion processes.

“The commission is dedicated to recognising hard work, dedication, and competence. These promotions are a testament to that commitment.

“I urge all the promoted officers to see their new ranks as a call to greater service, higher responsibility, and redoubled dedication to the safety and security of our nation,” Kalu quoted Argungu as saying.

The Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of PSC, Mr Torty Kalu, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Kalu said the application portal, opened on December 15 and slated to be closed on January 26 had been extended to February 8.

He said the decision followed the receipt of over 400,000 applications and a review, showing significant disparities in state participation.

“While some states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have high application numbers, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have notably lower submissions.

“The extension is to ensure equitable representation nationwide.

“All eligible Nigerians, particularly from above-mentioned states with fewer applications, are strongly encouraged to apply via the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng,” he said.

He enjoined state governments, local government councils, community leaders, and other stakeholders to mobilise and sensitise eligible citizens within their jurisdictions to take advantage of the extension to apply.

The PSC spokesman pledged the commitment of the commission and the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a fair and transparent recruitment process.

The move followed the directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to that effect against the backdrop of the increasing wave of insecurity in the country.

The recruitment portal – www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng – will be open from Monday, 15 December 2025 to Sunday, 25 January 2026.

According to a statement by the Head, Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the directive for the recruitment was aimed at strengthening community policing, enhancing internal security and expanding the manpower base of the Nigeria Police Force.

The commission said the approval had been given for the opening of the recruitment portal for applications from eligible Nigerians.

The commission gave details on the recruitment exercise:

“Qualifications:

General Duty cadre applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with a minimum of five (5) credits (including English Language and Mathematics) in not more than two sittings.

Specialists cadre applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with a minimum of four (4) credits (including English Language and Mathematics) in not more than two sittings. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience and Trade Tests in relevant fields/areas is required.

“Eligibility:

Interested candidates must:

Be Nigerian citizens by birth

Be aged between 18 and 25 years for General Duty; 18 to 28 years for Specialists

Be medically, physically and psychologically fit

Not be less than 1.67m (male) and 1.64m (female) in height (for General Duty only)

Meet other requirements as shall be specified on the recruitment portal

“Application Period:

The recruitment portal will be open from Monday, 15 December 2025 to Sunday, 25 January 2026.

All applications must be submitted ONLINE through the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.”

The commission stressed that the recruitment exercise would be conducted in the most transparent, merit-based and credible manner.

It stated that application is free as there would be no payment required at any stage of the process.

It also warned applicants to be wary of fraudstars.

The commission added: “Detailed guidelines, requirements and the application link will be made available on the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng (to be activated on 15th December 2025) and on the official websites and social media handles of the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.

“The Police Service Commission urges all qualified and patriotic Nigerians to seize this opportunity to serve the nation.”

Mr Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, made this known in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

Ani said Mohammed was elevated from his previous rank of an Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIG, to replace Mr Sahabu Yahaya who had since retired from service.

He said the commission also approved the promotion of Mr Abibo Reuben from the rank of Commissioner of Police, CP, to the next rank of AIG.

Ani said the commission further approved the promotion of 11 Deputy Commissioners of Police, DCPs, to their next ranks of CP.

He said the newly promoted CPs were Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Wilson Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, Abdullateef Yusuf, Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor and Umar Hadejia.

Ani said the promotions were part of the highpoints of the second plenary meeting of the commission, presided over by the chairman of the commission, Mr Hashimu Argungu.

The PSC spokesman said the commission also approved the promotion of 15 Assistant Commissioners of Police, ACP, to the rank of DCP.

He said the newly promoted DCPs were David Ojo, Umaru Bichi, Bala Jarumai, Makanjuola Abiodun, Shafii Abdulkarim, Mohammed Ajose, Mukter Bello, Mada Adamu, Omololu Vaughan, Linus Ogbodo, Emmanuel Ogbuanya and Tijani Gotom.

Others were Shehu Ibrahim, a specialist, Dr Onwuegbuzie Awele, a medical doctor and Hamza Ali, a nurse.

Ani said 44 Chief Superintendents of Police, CSP, were elevated to the next rank of ACP, while 412 Superintendents of Police, SP, were promoted to CSP.

He said the PSC chairman had congratulated the newly promoted officers and called for their rededication to service.

Argungu reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to protecting officers’ career progression, ensuring it was neither hindered nor undermined.

The PSC chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu, made the request when he led a delegation of the PSC management on a courtesy visit to NDLEA on Tuesday in Abuja.

In a statement by the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, on Tuesday in Abuja, Argungu said that the request came with a view to ensuring that those with the right frame of mind eventually made it out of police training colleges across the country.

Argungu commended the leadership of NDLEA for the support so far received, saying that his visit was to seek further assistance.

“This is because we follow processes and procedures in anything we do so that we can produce the best results.

“If the process and procedures were followed wrongly, the end result or product is going to be bad,” Argungu said.

He said the commission would decentralise its screening of recruits across Nigeria and would need the support of the NDLEA in every state.

“We want them to assist us in screening those who are already on drugs in whatever form.

“This is because we can’t churn out and put arms in the hands of people already dependent on illicit drugs, that is dangerous.”

In his response, the NDLEA chairman, retired Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa noted that the drug scourge was a challenge affecting every part of national life and propelling security challenges.

Marwa said that explained why there was need for all stakeholders to embrace a whole of government and society approach to curbing the menace.

“On your request for a drug integrity test for new police recruits, we are delighted about this and we’re happy to collaborate with you on this.

“We are prepared across all our commands all over the country with high quality test kits that will give you the right results.

“This is important because candidates play all manner of tricks with urine samples but our kits are produced to detect all of those.

“In all, you can rest assured we’ll be glad to work with you and support you on this,” the NDLEA boss maintained.
