										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, have neutralised no fewer than 29 Boko Haram/Islamic States West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists, arrested 55 and rescued 52 kidnapped victims in two weeks.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, made this known at a bi-weekly news briefing of the Defence Headquarters on Thursday in Abuja.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that the troops had continued to dominate the North East theatre of operation across villages, mountains, town and cities.</p>
<p>He said that a total of 1,755 Boko Haram terrorists and their families comprising of 280 adult males, 523 adult females and 952 children surrendered to troops during the period.</p>
<p>According to him, all surrendered terrorists and their families were profiled and handed over to the relevant authority.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that the troops also ambushed terrorists on Uzoro-Gadamayo Road in Adamawa, killing one, while others fled and equipment recovered.</p>
<p>He said that the troops in conjunction with Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, on August 6, also arrested three terrorists’ logistics suppliers &#8211; Hussain Dungus, Ali Bulama Jidda and Malam Ali Abuna in Buni Yadi, Yobe.</p>
<p>“Similarly, the air component conducted air interdiction on August 3 at Degbawa, near Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.</p>
<p>“The airstrike led to the neutralisation of a key ISWAP Commander, Alhaji Modu (aka Bem Bem) and his fighters.</p>
<p>“Information gathered from the locals, revealed that 20 terrorists were confirmed dead in the strike at the location where the terrorists converged for a meeting before the strike.</p>
<p>“Accordingly, within the weeks in focus troops neutralised 29 terrorists, arrested 55 and rescued 52 civilians.</p>
<p>“Also, troops recovered 128 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 5 bicycles, 12 AK47 rifles, 4 motorcycles and five mobile phones,” he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Troops of Operations Whirl Stroke and Safe Haven have apprehended seven terrorists and bandits as well as rescued two kidnapped victims in different operations across Nasarawa, Plateau and Kaduna states.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, in a statement on Friday, said the troops had continued to dominate and deny criminals freedom of action in their area of responsibility.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the troops had on July 29, conducted clearance operation at Tse-Ibor, Tse-Igbakyor, Akwana and Ayinbe villages in Logo local government area of Nasarawa State and made contact with terrorists.</p>
<p>He said the troops engaged the terrorists with superior fire power, forcing them to flee while two of them, Danladi Selfa (23) and Usman Yau (28), were arrested with gunshot wounds at a private hospital.</p>
<p>He said that one AK 47 rifle, one magazine with 13 rounds of 7.62mm special amongst other items were recovered.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that troops also arrested a terrorist and alleged bandit collaborator, Mr Moses Aindigh (27) and a notorious kidnapper, IIiyasu Mohammed (37) on the same day at Kukyro Village in Nasarawa local government area.</p>
<p>According to him, all arrested criminals had been handed over to relevant authorities.</p>
<p>“Furthermore, troops of Operation Safe Haven on August 3 and August 4, arrested three suspected notorious kidnappers &#8211; Umar Zakari, Usman Hamina and Haruna Umaru &#8211; following credible intelligence at Fuskar Mata village in Bassa local government area of Kaduna State.</p>
<p>“The suspects confessed to have been involved in kidnapping activities in mentioned local government areas.</p>
<p>“Also, on August 3, troops responded to a distress call from locals in Qua’anpan local government area of Plateau over four kidnappers in a hotel hideout attempting to move people away.</p>
<p>“Troops mobilised to the scene, engaged the criminals, neutralised one of them (Umar Muhammed) and recovered one AK47 rifle, 10 rounds of 7.62mm special amongst other items,” he said.</p>
<p>Onyeuko also said that troops had on August 4, recovered 100 vandalised rail sleepers in an abandoned white Peugeot Boxer vehicle at Bak Village in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.</p>
<p>He added that troops also conducted a rescue operation at Kasuwa Ali in Gindiri District in Mangu local government area and subsequently rescued two kidnapped civilians Mr Ebuka Nnadi (30) and Mr Uchenna Edoga (25).</p>
<p>According to him, the rescued civilians had been reunited with their families.</p>
<p>“The military high command commends troops for their efforts in curbing criminal activities in their respective theaters of operations.</p>
<p>“The high command also encourages the general public to continue to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities,” he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters has said that military troops eliminated 30 of the terrorists who attacked troops of the Guards Brigade in Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Sunday.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, made this known at the bi-weekly news conference on military operations on Thursday in Abuja.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the operation was conducted by troops of 7 Guards Battalion and 167 Special Force Battalion in conjunction with the air component of “Operation Whirl Punch” between Sunday and Tuesday.</p>
<p>He said the troops successfully cleared Kawu and Ido villages neutralising the terrorists and destroyed their enclave and hide out.</p>
<p>According to him, the ground troops also recovered six motorcycles, two AK47 rifles, one fully loaded LMG magazine amongst others during mop up.</p>
<p>“The hierarchy of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies wish to re-assure Nigerians of its commitment and pact with all Nigerians.</p>
<p>“With the recent operations carried out from July 23, we wish to assure residents of FCT in particular that we are undaunted and unrelenting in our efforts to ensure the safety of lives and properties.</p>
<p>“People should go about their normal business as their safety is guaranteed.</p>
<p>“The support and cooperation of all Nigerians is hereby solicited as security is everybody’s business. Citizens are encouraged to report any unusual persons in your community to security agencies. If you see something say something,’’ he said.</p>
<p>On his part, the Director Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Jimmy Akpor, urged media to continue to support the military in ensuring that the enemies of the nation were defeated.</p>
<p>On the voice note being circulated on social media purportedly belonging to a soldier involved in the attack, Akpor said that enquiries to know its authenticity was unnecessary.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters says troops have eliminated five terrorists and recovered cache of arms in separate operations in Benue and Katsina states.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on July 15, eliminated three bandits during a raid at Chito in Sankera ward of Ukum local government area of Benue State.</p>
<p>He said the raid was conducted based on credible intelligence, adding that the bandits engaged the troops in a fierce battle but were overpowered by the superior fire power of the troops.</p>
<p>The director said three bandits were neutralised in the operation while others escaped with gunshot wounds.</p>
<p>According to him, the troops recovered 18 motorcycles used by the bandits to terrorise the general area.</p>
<p>Onyeuko also said troops of Operation Hadarin Daji had in a special operation on July 17, eliminated two terrorists at Falalen-Jaja Village in Jibia local government area of Katsina State.</p>
<p>He added that the troops recovered two AK 47 Rifles, two Magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six motorcycles, two mobile phones and packets of tramadol drug, among others.</p>
<p>“The military high command commends troops of Operations Whirl Stroke and Hadarin Daji for the feat and encourages the general public to avail troops with more credible and timely information on criminal activities in their areas,’’ he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters says troops of 24 Task Force Brigade operating under Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated five Boko Haram terrorists in an encounter at Gamage Village in Borno.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, in a statement on Thursday, said the encounter took place on July 3.</p>
<p>He said the troops recovered two AK47 rifles, three dane guns, two AK47 magazines, 70 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and seven locally fabricated rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.</p>
<p>He added that four cell phones, three ATM cards and several bags of assorted food stuff were also recovered.</p>
<p>In the maritime domain, Onyeuko said the Nigerian Navy Ship ‘Okpabana’ of Operation Delta Safe had on July 5,  rescued the 16 meters surfer passenger boat MV NUE SWIFT belonging to Lagos based oil service company.</p>
<p>He said the troops responded to a distress message about propulsion of a boat on transit.</p>
<p>He added that the boat lost her propelling ability at Agbara Platform while transiting from Forcados to Bonny Mooring and drifted for 32 hours before it was rescued.</p>
<p>According to him, the crew and boat were handed over to Forward Base Operation Bonny on Wednesday.</p>
<p>“The military high command commends troops in the frontlines for their timely interventions, encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on criminal activities,” he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters has said that 4,770 terrorists comprising 864 adult males, 1,415 women and 2,490 children surrendered to the Nigerian troops between June 1 and June 15, in the North East.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said this at the bi-weekly news conference on the operations of armed forces on Thursday, in Abuja.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the troops of Operation Hadin Kai had intensified the tempo of their operations in the various locations across the North East Zone.</p>
<p>He said the operations led to the rescue of abducted persons, neutralising  of terrorists, arrest of terrorists members, recovery of arms and ammunition and other security related items.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the troops of 152 Battalion had between June 17 and June 21, encountered fleeing Boko Haram Terrorist/Islamic State West Africa Province fighters at Buduwa in Bama local government area of Borno and eliminated seven of them.</p>
<p>He added that 14 rustled cattle and three bicycles were recovered as well as apprehension of some terrorist collaborators and logistics suppliers.</p>
<p>According to him, Mallam Abacha Usman was arrested at Benshek, Mallam Ibrahim Gira on Damboa – Biu Road and Mallam Ibrahim Gira a notorious terrorist petroleum supplier.</p>
<p>He said that troops neutralised 11 terrorists, arrested 11 and recovered 14 rustled cattle, two AK47 rifles, three bicycles, two locally made guns, 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one Golf 2 car.</p>
<p>“All surrendered Boko Haram Terrorist/Islamic State West Africa Province members and families were profiled and documented while all arrested and recovered items were handed over to the appropriate authority for further actions,” he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Defence Headquarters said that the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, on May 21, arrested one, Jabe Buba, a foreigner and notorious terrorists’ informant, at Garuwa village, in Tambuwal local government area of Sokoto State.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said this while briefing newsmen on military operations across Nigeria, between May 19 and June 2, on Thursday in Abuja.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that pictures and video of the foreigner, posing with rifles in the forest, were found in his cellphone and the sum of N130,000 was recovered from him during the operation.</p>
<p>He said the troops also recovered 292 cattle and one camel during an encounter with terrorists at Dampo village, in Bakura local government area of Zamfara.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the troops also rescued 152 kidnapped civilians, neutralised 18 bandits and apprehended 25, within the same period under review.</p>
<p>He said that troops recovered nine AK 47 rifles, 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 458 rustled cattle and 20 motorcycles.</p>
<p>In Operation Whirl Stroke, he said the troops eliminated a kidnapping gang leader and two others who were all dressed in military uniform along Zakibiam-Ugba road in Benue and rescued one victim.</p>
<p>The Defence spokesman said that items recovered included one AK 47 rifle, three fully loaded magazines (90 rounds of 7.62mm special), one Toyota Corolla vehicle and an ATM card bearing Felix Terzenqwe.</p>
<p>He said a notorious gun runner, Mr Morris Ayitu, was arrested alongside his wife and an accomplice, after a raid at his residence in Abirisi, in Guma local government area of Nasarawa State.</p>
<p>In Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Onyeuko said the theatre command had on May 21 graduated 122 local vigilantes trained to assist security agencies to ensure security of hinterland communities in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.</p>
<p>In Plateau, he said the Headquarters of OPSH held a peace meeting with Bemood Fulani stakeholders to sustain peace in Kuru area, in Jos South local government area.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters on Thursday said that troops of Operation Hadin Kai had in the past two weeks eliminated 14 terrorists and arrested 15 others.</p>
<p>Briefing journalists in Abuja, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said that the achievement followed military operations across Nigeria’s North-East region between May 19 and June 2.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that 100 family members of terrorists in the North-East comprised 33 women and 67 children were also rescued by the troops.</p>
<p>He said the troops in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, on May 22, dealt a deadly blow to the terrorists at Amdaga, Balazola, Ndakaine, Jango, Sabah and Gobara in Gwoza local government area of Borno.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said that the Boko Haram and Islamic States West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists’ hideouts in the area were also leveled and cleared during the encounter.</p>
<p>He added that the terrorists fled in disarray due to the superior fire power of the troops, and abandoned their properties and family members.</p>
<p>The defence spokesperson further said that troops also recovered a dump truck belonging to the Borno State Road Maintenance Agency.</p>
<p>The vehicle, he said, was reported to have been stolen by the terrorists in February 2021, but was recovered on May 23, on old Marte Road.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said further that troops on patrol in Ashigashiya, Kodele, and Apagaluwa in Gwoza local government area, encountered terrorist-herders, who engaged the former in a fierce gun battle.</p>
<p>“The terrorists fled due to the troops’ superior fire power, while troops recovered 40 sheep.</p>
<p>“Furthermore, on May 31, troops repelled an attack by terrorists, at Firm Base Arege, in Abadam local government area of Borno and inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, while other fled in disarray.</p>
<p>“Cumulatively, troops recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, five AK-56 rifles, two FN rifles, 227 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, seven AK 47 magazines and one PKM gun.</p>
<p>“Also recovered are: One AA gun, 164 rounds of AA ammunition, 111 Shilka ammunition, one gun truck, one Shilka barrel, two dane guns, two Improvised Explosive Devices, one car engine, four trollies and one water pump machine.</p>
<p>“Troops also rescued 100 family members of terrorists, who included 33 women.</p>
<p>“Troops also neutralised 14 terrorists and arrested 15.</p>
<p>“Accordingly, all arrested, rescued family members of terrorists and recovered items have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action,” he said.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said there had been sustained efforts to build on the successes so far achieved in the various theatres.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, OPHK, have successfully overrun and captured the stronghold of the Islamic States West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists at Ukuba/Camp Zairo, in Sambisa Forest.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, in a statement on Friday in Abuja, said the troops also seized weapons from the terrorists.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the feat was achieved on Thursday in a Special operation codenamed “Operation Desert Sanity.”</p>
<p>He said the troops routed the terrorists and captured their enclave, adding that the terrorists fled the camp leaving behind their weapons.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said, “after thorough cordon and search of the captured camp, the gallant troops recovered various equipment including one Main Battle Tank, one 155mm Bofors Gun, one Trailer, one 122mm Gun and two 105mm Guns.</p>
<p>“Other equipment captured are one Mines Resistance Ambush Protected (MRAP), fighting vehicle, one MOWAG Armoured Personnel Carrier, one Mack Trailer, as well as large cache of arms and ammunition left behind by the terrorists.”</p>
<p>The Defence spokesman said the capture of the terrorists’ stronghold of ‘Camp Zairo’ was a major setback to the terrorists and criminals.</p>
<p>He said the military High Command had commended the troops for the success and enjoined them not to rest on their oars.</p>
<p>He added, “but use this as a springboard to finally defeat the insurgents and also keep up the fighting spirit.”</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Defence Headquarters says troops have eliminated no fewer than 121 terrorists and bandits in the last two weeks.</p>
<p>The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, made the declaration in Abuja on Thursday while briefing newsmen on on-going military operations across the country.</p>
<p>He said troops of “Operation Hadin Kai’’ conducted clearance operations in the fight against Boko Haram and Islamic State – West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists and other criminal elements in the theatres of operations.</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the operations led to the killing of 12 terrorists and the recovery of a large cache of arms and equipment.</p>
<p>Some of the arms and equipment are four AA-guns, 2,000 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, one MOWAG Armoured Personnel Carrier and one truck mounted with 122 artillery gun.</p>
<p>He said Boko Haram and ISWAP members had continued to surrender to troops at different locations of the war theatre.</p>
<p>“A total of 174 Boko Haram terrorists and their families comprising of 43 adult males, 58 females and 73 children from villages around Bama and Dikwa Local Government Areas of Borno surrendered to our troops.</p>
<p>“All terrorists that have surrendered and their families have been profiled,’’ Onyeuko said.</p>
<p>The Defence spokesman added that troops of “Operation Hadarin Daji’’ also conducted series of artillery and air bombardments of terrorists in the northwest during the period killing six terrorists and forcing many to flee in disarray.</p>
<p>He said that exploitation operations led to the recovery of 574 rustled cattle, 22 motorcycles, three AK-47 rifles and 21 rounds ammunitions.</p>
<p>He added that other operations in Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara during the period resulted in the neutralisation of 90 bandits and the rescue of eight civilian victims.</p>
<p>“Cumulatively, the operations neutralised 96 terrorists, rescued eight kidnapped victims, and recovered large cache of ammunitions.</p>
<p>“All rescued civilians have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further actions,’’ he said.</p>
<p>Onyeuko also told newsmen that renewed intensity of operations by troops of “Operation Whirl Stroke’’ in the fight against banditry and other criminal elements resulted in the destruction of many bandits’ camps.</p>
<p>He said the troops eliminated notorious militia gang leader, Iortyom Wuave (aka Janta) on February 24.</p>
<p>Wuave had been on the Wanted List of the military at Tse Mela in Katsina Ala local government area of Benue State.</p>
<p>He added that troops also raided the hideout of notorious bandits at Tse Jundo in Mbamena Council Ward in UUkum local government area of Benue State.</p>
<p>In the process, troops killed two bandits, Terdoo Kiorga (a.k.a. Apaapa) and Orkulam Mom (a.k.a. Orbutee).</p>
<p>Onyeuko said the duo had been on the wanted list of “Operation Whirl Stroke’’ and were known to have unleashed mayhem on Zaki Biam in Benue and its environs in the past.</p>
<p>Within the period under review, troops cumulatively neutralised nine bandits, recovered eight AK47 rifles, eight magazines, 208 special ammunitions and 15 cell phones.</p>
<p>“As part of non-kinetic operations, Force Commander of `Operation Whirl Stroke’, distributed some food, sanitary materials and sundry items to Internally Displaced Persons in Ortese, Benue and Daudu in Keana, Nasarawa State.</p>
<p>“Troops also conducted series of peace meetings with heads of local communities and youth leaders to workout modalities for maintaining peace in their domain,’’ Onyeuko said.</p>
