The statement noted that the event would begin with a visit to the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oba Afolorunso Oguntayo on Thursday, September 4 and will be followed with a health talk on Friday, September 5.

The topics to be addressed are cancer and hypertension.

Prof Adejinle from the US, Dr Babatunde Onamusi also from the US and Prince Kehinde Osibote from the UK, all old students will facilitate the health session.

There will also be free medical test for old students.

A novelty match between old students and teachers of the school will also hold on Friday.

A gala nite will cap up the day.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Prof Denloye Abiodun, an old student of the school will deliver the key note address with the theme, “Honouring the past, inspiring the future.”

The highpoint of the event is on Saturday, September 6 during which the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu, will be honoured among many other old students of the school.

Also to be honoured are the Ajalorun of Ijebu Ife, Oba Afolorunso Oguntayo, and all the founding fathers of the school, including the late Arc (Otunba) Olajide Adebanjo, Arc Adedeji Oyenuga and many others.

The Ogun State government has announced that over 100 units of detached and semi-detached duplexes are ready for subscription by members of the public at the President Muhammadu Buhari (PMB) Estate in Abeokuta.

It also stated that plots of land were available for sale to individuals willing and ready to build their dream houses in the estate.

Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, stated this on Friday while conducting over 100 Realtors and Estate Agents around the PMB Estate, along Kobape Road, Abeokuta.

Speaking further on what subscribers stand to gain in the estate, Omoniyi said that apart from being built on virgin land with great scenery, the estate would feature a shopping mall, perimeter fence and gatehouse, children’s playground, recreational centre, and other facilities comparable to those in major estates around the world.

“This estate is going to be top-notch. It will have facilities that can be compared to first-class estates across the world. It will have adequate security, a mall, a recreational centre, a playground for children, and other facilities that will make living in this estate a pleasurable experience.

“As you can see, the buildings are constructed with the best materials available anywhere in the country. The buildings are of modern design with ample space. We are building this estate for those who want to live in a quiet environment devoid of the hustle and bustle of the cities and for Nigerians in the Diaspora who want to enjoy the same environment they are used to overseas,” he said.

The estate, the commissioner added, is strategically located close to the OgunTechHub, the State Judiciary Complex, and just a five-minute drive to the Governor’s Office, and 50 minutes to Lagos State. He assured that subscribers, upon full payment, would be given all their title documents.

Jagunmolu Omoniyi stated that the success recorded so far, especially with the Ibara Regeneration Scheme, informed the need for the government to also develop the PMB Estate to make more houses available to the people.

He maintained that the tour aimed to sensitize the housing market through the gathering of more than 100 Realtors and Estate Agents on the facilities being put in place to transform the once-abandoned project into one of the best estates in the country.

He noted that the PMB Estate, started by the past administration, was conceptualized as a site-and-service project with over 500 hectares of land, adding that the state government is currently developing the first cluster of over 50 hectares.

The commissioner further disclosed that the more than 100 buildings, made up of detached and semi-detached duplexes, were being constructed to demonstrate what the state government is capable of achieving.

Omoniyi lamented that despite its huge potential, the PMB Estate was lying fallow with many unfinished and vandalized infrastructures, but has now been transformed into a city of great value for the people of the state and Nigerians in the Diaspora who desire to live and work in the state.

READ ALSO: Protest: JUPEB postpones 2024 exams, fixes new date

The Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration, the commissioner emphasized, operates an inclusive policy on housing delivery as all segments of the populace in the state have been taken into consideration.

According to him, the present administration, in the last four years, has provided affordable houses to all categories of people, ranging from low to medium and high-income earners.

He added that the government’s desire is to ensure that all citizens in the state have a roof over their heads.

“This is the only state that has, within the first four years of its inception, constructed over 4,000 affordable homes in all three Senatorial Districts across the state. Ogun State is the only state that has provided truly affordable houses that are not beyond the reach of the people.

“Our low-income houses go for between N10 million and N15 million, medium-income goes for about N70 million, while the high-income goes for about N175 million. With this, we have engaged over 50,000 artisans through direct labour and turned several unknown villages into smart cities.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC), Prince Farooq Adenugba, said that Cluster 1 in the estate, currently being developed, is provided with facilities like a gatehouse, service building, children’s park, clubhouse, street lights, and a standard drainage system, describing it as “an estate of valleys and hills.”

Prince Adenugba emphasized that the buildings are of high quality that could be compared with the best anywhere in the world.

He stated that the fully detached and semi-detached duplexes are provided with boys’ quarters, just as the fully detached duplexes sit on 900 square metres and the semi-detached duplexes on 500 square metres of land.

While assuring subscribers of getting the right value for their money, Adenugba added that the choice of housing units is strategically located, while each cluster would be fenced to provide the needed security for occupants.

A property practitioner and builder, Mr. Babatunde Denton, while fielding questions from newsmen after the tour of the estate, applauded the state government for siting the project at a strategic location to showcase the state, adding that with the standard of infrastructure and facilities available, the PMB Estate is poised to be a prime estate in the future.

The General Secretary of the Real Estate Developers’ Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Mr. Ojikutu Olusola, commended the state government for ensuring that quality materials were used in the construction of the buildings, noting that with the government’s involvement in the projects, buyers would have peace of mind after purchasing the properties.

Ogun State government will from Monday, next week, begin allocation of 200 housing units to subscribers of the Kobape phase III housing scheme.

This was disclosed on Thursday by the Commissioner for Housing, Alhaji Jamiu Akande Omoniyi, while speaking at a press conference on the activities of his ministry.

The commissioner added that the housing policy of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration was not for profit making, but rather as a social service to the people of the state and those in Diaspora who desire to live and work in the Gateway State.

Omoniyi, therefore, put to rest the controversies surrounding the allocation process.

He said that out of the 200 subscribers, 110 would get their allocation letters from Monday on the first come, first served basis.

He urged the subscribers to look out for their names, even as he noted that 36 others who defaulted would have their deposits refunded to them.

“Out of the 200 subscribers of Kobape Phase III that have been writing and defaming the government, we will be allocating 110 housing units immediately. These 110 were built based on their individual circumstances and, especially on first come first served basis.

READ ALSO: Military kills 2, 245 terrorists, apprehends 3,682 others in 3 months

“From our records, 36 subscribers defaulted, and decisions have been made to refund them immediately. Although there is a clause in their allocation letter that whenever these type of things happen, there would be 10 per cent deductions as administrative charges.

“But Prince Dapo Abiodun has magnanimously waved this. They will have their refunds 100 per cent,” he said.

The commissioner also noted that the 54 remaining subscribers would get their allocation in the next batch, as their files were already being scrutinised by the Ministry of Finance and Internal Audit.

“As soon as that is sorted out, that is just 27 blocks of 2-bedroom, which we will undertake and complete soon. They will have their houses delivered. You can be assured thar since the houses are bungalows, the houses will be completed between two to three months.

“Ogun State Government, under Prince Dapo Abiodun remains the best in Nigeria in the provision of affordable houses. When others were selling their 2-bedroom at N15 million, our benchmark was N5.5 million in 2019. It has built more than 4000 housing units since its inception, which is more than what previous administrations combined had achieved since 1976.

“This is because major inputs in the delivery of these houses were fully subsidised by the state government. What subscribers were paying for was just the buildings alone. The government gave the land free and also provided infrastructure,” Omoniyi added.

He further explained that three estates at Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, and Ilaro with combined 500 housing units would be commissioned soon as works had been completed on them, and the houses were currently being painted.

Ogun State government on Friday said it would continue to make land available to genuine investors who might be ready to do business in the state.

The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, stated this at the distribution of Certificates of Occupancy to 5,000 beneficiaries at the Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, said in keeping with the plans of the present administration to make the state the investors hub not only in Nigeria, but the West African sub-region, the process of acquiring land in the state had been automated to speed up the process.

He noted that it was no longer business as usual, as the Lands Department had been transformed to perform optimally, saying the distribution of 5000 CofO was a signpost that transparency is now the order of the day in the administration of land in the state.

The governor, who attributed the non-performance of the Lands Department in the past to ‘cabals’ said the office was already operating on a clean slate as the former staff had been moved to make room for higher performance.

He sympathized with those who went through severe ordeal in accessing their land documents, saying with the documents, it would bring peace of mind and signified that the land had been allocated to them.

READ ALSO: NYSC DG in Ondo, says gains of scheme unquantifiable

In their goodwill messages, Commissioner for Physical Planning, Tunji Odulami, said though the process started about six years ago through the Homeowner Charter put in place by the past administration, many people would not complete and access their land title documents.

He said the distribution of CofO to 5,000 people was an indication that the present administration, apart from taking the bull by the horns, was a promise keeping government, urging the beneficiaries to complete the process by obtaining their building plans as well.

Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi, while congratulating the recipients, noted that the land documents given by the government would legitimise and prop up the value of their properties, calling on those yet to apply for theirs to do so without delay.

In his welcome address, Director General, Bureau of Lands and Survey, Segun Fowora, noted that land played important part in human activities as no activity could take place without land.

He said the introduction of the Ogun State Land Administration and Revenue Management System, OLAMS, by the Governor Abiodun-led administration was to speed the process of land administration and make it seamless, maintaining that the Bureau of Lands would continue to implement the governor’s vision on land matters.

One of the recipients and former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ayilara Adedoyin, lauded the state government for the initiative, noting that it would help in legitimising their properties and give them peace of mind.

The construction of 200 housing units by the Ogun State government has taken off, with the site for the project being cleared in Iperu, Ikenne local government.

To be executed through direct labour, the housing estate will consist of 2-bedroom expandable bungalows, targeting low – and medium-class clients.

The move by the state government, according to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi, would add to the housing stock in the state, provide housing solution to the emerging Remo Zone Economic Hub, with the expected influx of workers to the area and complement the state government’s investment in the Gateway Agro-Cargo Airport.

According to Jagunmolu, each unit will be offered to the public at N8.5 million for the carcass option and N15 million for fully finished units with mortgage options available through Gateway Mortgage Bank.

“The estate will be fully serviced with all basic amenities like good drains and well-compacted road network, security architecture, lighting and water reticulation, playground, health and educational facilities as well as a Fire Service Station to serve the emerging economic cluster,” he said.

He added that the project would boost the local economy as 5,000 artisans and over 50 service providers (suppliers) would be available on-site.

“This will ensure the provision of means of livelihood to over 20,000 citizens considering the multiplier effect of engaging 5,000 artisans,” Jagunmolu added.

The project is expected to be completed in six months.
