CP Asabi Abiodun, Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, gave the warning in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, on Monday in Akure.

According to Abiodun, the attention of the command had been drawn to the intention of some persons to stir trouble in the state.

“The intelligence unit of the police through underground findings reported that the protests will be with a singular aim of causing chaos in the state.

“It could further lead to breakdown of law and order that will disrupt the activities of the good people of the state.

“The Police will take into cognisance, Chapter 4, Section 40, of the constitution to respect the rights of the people.

He, however, said that the command would not fold its hands and allow the rights of others to be trampled on, while upholding the rights of some others.

“I am using this opportunity to advice the people in the state not to be swayed by the action of a few, who want to raise unnecessary dust,” he said.

A 26-year-old suspected ritualist and fraudster, Franklin Akinyosuyi, arrested with human head and other parts, said untold hardship and low patronage caused his involvement in rituals.

The suspect was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police’s anti-crime section attached to Funmbi-Fagun police Station in Ondo town, the headquarters of Ondo West local government area of Ondo State.

Akinyosuyi, who was paraded with five other suspects at the Akure headquarters of the Police Command in Ondo State on Sunday, said his business was threatened by low patronage, hence his actions which was meant to boost his business.

He told newsmen that the human head was discovered in his rented apartment located in Elewuro area of the community.

READ ALSO: Drug baroness, kingpins arrested as NDLEA busts three syndicates

The suspect, who exonerated the landlord and confirmed the ownership of all the items found in his possession, said that he bought all the items from his herbalist who resides in Ikirun, Ifelodun local government area of Osun State.

According to Akinyosuyi, the photography business and his boutique wasn’t moving well, so his uncle took him to a herbalist last year who made a concoction for N300,000, which was paid within three weeks.

“After he was done, he called me to come and pick it, that was last year November. He directed that I should be bathing with the human head every Thursday at exactly 1 a.m.

“I used it for a month but didn’t see any difference in my business. So, I had to call the herbalist and told him to refund my money.

“I also asked him to come and pick the human head as well but he refused to come. He started refunding my money because he already sent me N250,000.

“So, on that faithful day, I decided to go and throw it away. I dropped it at my backyard. Unfortunately, I went out and before I could return, my landlord’s children saw it, informed their father and they ultimately called the police,” he said.

“After we were arrested, the herbalist claimed that he paid someone to get the human head,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, while giving details of the suspect, said the case was reported on August 6 for unlawful possession of human head in Ondo.

She said the suspect claimed to be a photographer and to also own a boutique in Ondo town.

“The suspect was challenged by his landlord for keeping a bag in a corner of the compound and the landlord was suspicious and asked the young man to open the bag.

“When he did, a human skull was found in the bag. After he was arrested, he claimed it was given to him by a “native doctor” in Osun State.

“Further interrogation and investigation led to the arrest of one Oyegoke Dare, an evangelist, who gave the skull and other fetish materials to the suspect.

“One Oyelade Sarafa, a herbalist who also confessed to have helped in procuring the skull from one Asekun (a vigilante) in Ikirun, was also arrested.

Two other suspects mentioned in connection with the case are currently at large,” she said.

The Police in Ondo State said seven suspects have been arrested for stoning a 35-year-old driver to death on April 10.

The driver, Olorunfemi Tope, had in an accident killed one person and injured others along Ijoka Road in Akure.

The driver was subsequently mobbed to death and the video of the incident shared on the internet.

SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Police spokesperson in the state, told newsmen on Monday in Akure that the seven people were arrested in connection with the incident.

According to Odunlami-Omisanya, out of the seven, Amos Victor, Boboye Ismail, Olatunji Samuel and Farotimi Pelumi, were the principal suspects.

He said that they were among those captured in the video attacking the deceased.

He said that the suspects would be taken to court on charges of arson and murder, after the conclusion of investigation.

“We have said it without number that jungle justice is illegal and against the law.

“When there is an accident our focus is how to rescue the victims by taking them to nearest hospitals for first aid and never take laws into our hands.

“It’s wrong for anybody to snip the life of anybody; we should allow the law to take its course, because it’s not in anybody’s place to kill anyone,” the spokesperson said.

An angry mob, on Monday, stoned a 35-year-old man to death for allegedly killing two persons and injuring six others in an accident at Ijoka Road, Akure, Ondo State capital.

The spokesperson for the police command in Ondo State, SP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Odunlani-Omisanya said that the accident involved a vehicle and a commercial motorcycle.

“There was an accident that led to the death of a motorcyclist, and rather than the people around helping, they resorted to jungle justice by killing the young man and setting his car ablaze,” she said.

The police spokesperson further stated that but for the quick intervention of the police, the parents of the driver too would have been killed.

She said that the parents were not in the same vehicle with their son but only came to the scene to see what was happening.

“In all, two people were confirmed dead while the six others who sustained injuries in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the hospital,” the PPRO said.

It was earlier gathered that the driver was suspected to be an internet fraudster popularly known as ‘Yahoo boy’.

He was said to have driven recklessly and rammed into about five commercial motorcycles carrying passengers at different spots at Ijo Mimo through Sunday Bus Stop to Ijoka Road in Akure.

An eye witnesses, who did not want his name in print, said that three people died on the spot, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

“The driver of the Toyota car, who did not sustain any injury, was trying to escape from the scene before he was caught by some youths and beaten into coma.

“The mob did not spear the man’s life, as he was beaten and stoned to death, while his vehicle was also set ablaze by the angry mob,” he said.

The eye witness stated further those who sustained injuries were taken to a nearby hospital, while the lifeless body of the driver was left at the scene.

The police spokesperson could, however, not confirm whether or not the driver was an internet fraudster
