SC Daniel Aidamenbor, Head, Media and Public Relations of the command, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Akure.

Aidamenbor, who explained that the two suspects, aged 22 and 38, committed the offences on March 13 and April 13, said they were arrested at different places in the state.

“In two separate cases, one Emeka Chidi Innocent, a farmer aged 22, raped a 13-year-old girl on March 3.

“Chidi (suspect) has since been on the run until he was tracked and arrested at Idanre, in Idanre Local Government Area of the state.

”Also, Ayodele John, a tiler aged 38, defiled a 15-year-old minor in her parents’ house in Akure on April 13 and was arrested on April 14.

“Both suspects have made confessional statements and will be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others,” he said.

Aidamenbor, therefore, called on parents and members of the public on the need for proper profiling and checks on their artisans.

“Parental duties should not be outsourced. In these cases, both suspects are known to the victims and their parents” he said.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement made available on Monday in Akure.

Jimoh said the joint effort involved the Police Command in Ondo State; 32 Brigade Artillery of the Nigerian Army; and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ondo State Command.

“Other security agencies are the Directorate of State Services (DSS); and Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps.

“The intelligence-led operation targeted identified criminal hideouts, black spots, and flashpoints across several parts of the state known for criminal activities.

“The coordinated operation resulted in the arrest of 99 suspects linked to offences such as armed robbery, burglary, theft, cultism, and other related crimes.

“During the operation, several items suspected to have been used for criminal activities as well as suspected stolen properties and other incriminating exhibits were recovered from the suspects.

“The arrested individuals are currently undergoing screening and profiling, while those found culpable will be charged to court accordingly,” he said.

The spokesperson said the state Commissioner of Police,  Adebowale Lawal, commended the professionalism, synergy, and commitment displayed by all participating security agencies during the operation.

According to Jimoh, the CP noted that such collaboration remains crucial in the fight against crime and criminality within the state.

“The CP further reiterates the command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven policing and joint security operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and maintaining law and order in the state.

“Lawal, once again, warns criminal elements to desist from engaging in unlawful activities within the state, stressing that Ondo State will not serve as a safe haven for criminals.

“Security agencies will continue to intensify operations to identify, track, and decisively deal with offenders regardless of where they operate or attempt to hide,” the spokesperson said.

He, therefore, called on the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely, credible and actionable information.

“Community cooperation remains vital in sustaining the prevailing peace and security in the state.

“The command assures the public that no effort will be spared in ensuring that all perpetrators of crime are brought to justice,” he said.

The reappointment took effect from Friday, February 27.

Audi was first appointed to the position in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

His initial five-year term ended last Friday as he participated in activities commemorating the 2026 World Civil Defence Day at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.

He will resume his duties on Monday with a renewed mandate.

In a press statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu charged Audi to reposition the service to play a more significant role in the country’s security, especially as the police refocused on their primary responsibility of protecting citizens from bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists.

Audi was born on September 30, 1967, in Laminga Town, Nasarawa local government, Nasarawa State.

After his early education in the state, he attended Teachers’ College in Jengre, Plateau State, where he obtained a Teachers’ Grade II Certificate in 1987.

He further attended the College of Education, Akwanga, earning the Nigeria Certificate in Education, NCE, in 1992.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he went to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Health Education in 1995.

In 2001, he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar.

He obtained a PhD in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in 2014, and a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLCJ) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2019.

Audi joined the NSCDC in November 1996 as a volunteer and was deployed as a Divisional Officer in Obi local government area, Nasarawa State, after completing his basic officer training in 1997.

He served in various state commands and, in 2007, was promoted to the rank of Commandant of the Corps and subsequently deployed to the office of the Commandant-General at the national headquarters in Abuja.

The command’s spokesman, SP Nafiu Habib, stated this at a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi.

He disclosed that following a detailed security assessment, a joint security personnel was  massively deployed to Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri communities in Alkaleri local government area, where there had been a resurgence of security concerns in recent days.

The operation, he said, conducted in collaboration with sister security agencies, was aimed at suppressing kidnapping and banditry.

According to him, the affected border communities have long faced challenges due to the infiltration of criminal elements from neighbouring states.

He emphasised that the current intervention included enhanced weaponry and reinforced patrol operations designed to neutralise threats and restore lasting peace.

He reassured residents of Mansur town, who recently fled their homes over security fears that their community remained safe and unaffected by incidents recorded in neighbouring Gwana District.

Habib further highlighted the collaborative efforts of the police, Military, DSS, NSCDC and other security agencies in fighting terrorism in the state, with support from   Bauchi State government.

He said that the combined operations were already yielding positive results.

The spokesman urged residents to cooperate by providing timely intelligence and reporting suspicious movements, with assurances that identities of  informants would be protected.

He reiterated that there would be no safe haven for criminal elements in Alkaleri and encouraged residents  to go about their lawful activities without fear.

The team comprised of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, and local security operatives known as Anti-Drugs Control, ADC, in collaboration with Millennium Metals Mining Company.

Alake made the vow in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Segun Tomori, on Thursday in Abuja.

The Niger Commandant of the NSCDC, Suberu Aniviye, said that the officer was killed at Zuzungi, Kataeregi, in Katcha local government.

Aniviye said that the incident occurred during a routine operation to curb illegal mining and prevent the unlawful smuggling of solid minerals from the mining site of Millennium Metals Mining Company.

He said that the team was attacked by armed illegal miners while intercepting suspected smugglers, killing an officer and setting an NSCDC Hilux vehicle ablaze

Responding to the incident, the minister said that relevant security and intelligence agencies had been placed on red alert to bring the perpetrators to justice saying those involved would be smoked out.

The minister said that those involved would be punished to serve as a deterrent to others.

“The illegal miners responsible for the murder of the gallant officer in active service will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“Their arrest and prosecution will send the right signal that this administration maintains zero tolerance for all forms of illegal mining and will do everything possible to defend its agents from murder,” he said.

Alake, who set up the NSCDC Mining Marshals to enforce mining laws, said the officer’s murder and the arson of the agency’s vehicle would not deter the federal government’s determination to combat illegal mining.

“This will not deter the Federal Government from securing the sector to promote legal miners and mining communities,” he said.

He said that the strong investor’s interest in Nigeria at the ongoing Mining Indaba conference in Cape Town was a clear indication that the government needed to maintain confidence in the sector and confront violent actors.

They declared that the rising incidents of avoidable fibre cuts resulting from negligence would no longer be excused, noting that offenders risked prosecution as the act constitutes a crime.

The warning was issued in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head, Public Affairs Department of NCC, Mrs Nnenna Ukoha, and the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi.

NCC and NSCDC stressed that fibre optic cables were critical national assets that powered Nigeria’s digital economy, enabled seamless communication, supported emergency services, connected businesses, and facilitated government operations.

They said their destruction, whether through negligence, lack of coordination, or wilful actions, posed a direct threat to national security, economic stability, and public safety.

According to the organisations, “Under the Designation and Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) Order 2024, telecommunication fibre infrastructure is classified as Critical National Information Infrastructure. Consequently, any damage resulting from unauthorized digging, construction activities, or failure to collaborate with relevant authorities to prevent damage during construction constitutes a criminal offence.”

They warned that individuals, construction companies, or government contractors who damaged fibre optic infrastructure would be made to face prosecution and applicable sanctions as provided under existing laws, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015.

The NCC and NSCDC therefore issued a categorical warning that “future damage to fibre optic infrastructure caused by excavation, road construction, or any civil engineering activity conducted without due consultation or collaboration with network operators and relevant regulators will attract strict legal consequences.”

They called on federal, state and local government agencies; road construction companies; utility service providers; and private developers to ensure full compliance by conducting pre‑construction verification of fibre routes; collaborating with the NCC, telecom operators and NSCDC before and during construction; adhering to approved guidelines for excavation and right‑of‑way management; and reporting any accidental damage immediately to enable rapid response and mitigation.

They encouraged the public to report any act of fibre-optic infrastructure sabotage or damage to the nearest NSCDC Office or email to protect@ncc.gov.ng, cipu@nscdc.gov.ng or call 622 toll-free.

SP Joshua Ukandu, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abakaliki.

Ukandu said that the arrest followed a joint operation involving the Army, the Directorate of Security Services, DSS, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

He said that two traditional rulers, Onyaidam Bassey and Godfrey Oko-Obia from Amasiri in Afikpo council area were also in their custody.

The police spokesperson told said that 10 people were earlier arrested in connection with the incident.

There has been a long standing land dispute between the people of Okporojor in Oso Edda community in Edda and their Amasiri neighbours in Afikpo local government area.

Suspected warlords from Amasiri community had on January 29, 2026, attacked Okporojor Village and beheaded four persons, burnt houses and destroyed other valuable property.

“Yes, on the Thursday attack, the update is that the coordinator of Amasiri, two traditional rulers from Amasiri and other individuals were arrested by a joint operation of the security agencies in the state.

“Those arrested are all in our custody and investigations on the killings are still ongoing.

“The command and other security personnel will not relent until all those involved are brought to justice,” the PPRO said.

The Zonal Commander, ACG Amos Abiodun-Taiwo, while presenting a commendation letter to Abdullahi on Friday in Kano, described his action as “a rare display of honesty, integrity and professionalism.”

Abiodun-Taiwo said Abdullahi found the money in a tricycle after a co-passenger, identified as Alhaji Mustafa, from Katsina State, mistakenly left the bag behind while alighting.

According to him, Abdullahi used the last dialled number on his mobile phone after lending it to the owner moments earlier to trace and contact the rightful owner of the money.

“It is very rare in our days to find someone who would return such a huge amount of money, especially under the current economic hardship.

“Nura is not even a regular staff; he is a volunteer and could not boast of N20,000 in his account. Yet, he chose honesty,” the commander said.

Abiodun-Taiwo added that after verifying the incident, the command reported the matter to the Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, who directed that Abdullahi be celebrated as an example of integrity within the corps.

“This young man is a good ambassador of his family, the NSCDC, and Nigeria at large. If this were something negative, social media would have been awash with it. Positive deeds like this deserve equal publicity,” he said.

He appealed to the public to emulate Abdullahi’s sincerity, stressing that integrity remained valuable regardless of economic challenges.

“It pays to be honest. If he had taken the money, he would not be enjoying peace today. Parents should train their children well, and young people should uphold such moral values,” Abiodun-Taiwo added.

The commander assured that Abdullahi would be “handsomely rewarded” for his exemplary conduct.

The command’s spokesperson, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, confirmed the incident in a statement in Dutse, on Wednesday.

Tijjana said that Abubakar, a resident of Gabari Village in Chamo district, drowned on Tuesday while swimming in a pond in the area.

He said that the deceased was discovered lifeless inside a pond locally referred to as “Mahayin gidan Toro”, located about 1.5 kilometers to the north of Gabari Village.

“Prior to the discovery, the shoes and trousers of the deceased were seen abandoned by the river bank.

“And according to his father, the deceased went to swim in the pond at about 5 p.m., but failed to return home.

“A search was immediately initiated by the community until the body was eventually discovered this morning,” he said.

The Jigawa NSCDC image maker added that the body of the deceased, which showed no trace of injury, was handed over to his parents for burial.

He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to warn children and youths against unsafe swimming practices in open water bodies in order to avert future occurrences.

He assured that the corps remained committed to its mandate of safeguarding lives and property across the state.

The week long activities is expected to come to a climax at the Mapo ground with the installation of the Olubadan-designate on Friday, September 26.

Mr Ademola Ojo, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, disclosed this on Saturday at a news conference held at the Olubadan Palace in Ibadan.

He said that the week-long celebration would kick off on Monday, September 22 with interfaith prayers, cultural displays, and a coronation lecture by Prof. Toyin Falola.

Ojo said that over 2,000 security operatives from the Police, DSS, Amotekun and NSCDC had been mobilised to maintain order and ensure a peaceful celebration.

Chief Bayo Oyero, Chairman of the Coronation Committee, described the event as a testament to Ibadan’s unique, democratic chieftaincy succession process, which has preserved peace and stability for generations.
