The match at Lafia Township Stadium was played behind closed doors following a sanction imposed by the NPFL board.

The sanction followed crowd disturbances involving Nasarawa United supporters during their previous home fixture.

Victor Chimezie converted a 43rd-minute penalty to give the Solid Miners the lead before Ngegi Oluka-Efor doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute.

Habibi Alakija sealed victory with a third goal in the 74th minute, securing all three points for the Lafia-based side.

Nasarawa United sit sixth on the table with 53 points, while Warri Wolves remain 17th with 43 points.

Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, said, “I am delighted with the maximum points from this match.

“We are in a difficult situation because we must win our remaining matches to challenge for the title and secure a continental ticket.”

Mangut said the team would approach the remaining fixtures seriously, aiming to win both home and away to reach their target position.

The match at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday reflected the hosts’ growing confidence as they seized full control early.

Anas Yusuf struck twice for the Solid Miners, scoring in the 38th and 46th minutes to energise the home crowd.

Garba Mohammed added a third in the 48th minute, sealing the result and securing all available points for the Lafia side.

The win marked a notable turnaround for a team that had recently slipped down the league table in frustrating fashion.

Nasarawa United returned to the top of the NPFL standings with 27 points, while Elkanemi sit 12 with 18 points.

Technical Adviser Mbwas Mangut praised his players, saying their improved ball circulation made a clear difference throughout the contest.

“We tried something different today and it worked,” Mangut said, expressing delight at securing maximum points from the encounter.

He added that the team would approach each match with seriousness and discipline to protect their position on the table.

Elkanemi’s Technical Adviser, Kabiru Dogo, described the outing as one of their poorest performances of the season.

Dogo said football occasionally delivered such results, stressing that the league remained a marathon rather than a sprint.

He said his side would push harder in upcoming matches to remain competitive until the final week of the campaign.

The visitors from Yenagoa had gone ahead through Alax Oyowah in the 36th minute after absorbing a number of attacks by the hosts.

But Rangers returned to parity through a penalty through Godwin Obaje in the 48th minute and later went ahead in the 87th minute when Chidera Ezeh curled a spot kick into the net.

The victory which is the first after the break, placed the Flying Antelopes on seventh position on the log of the Group B after three wins, three draws and four loses in the National Professional Football League, NPFL.

In a post-match press conference, Rangers Coach Mbwas Mangut described the victory as hard fought and well deserved.

Mangut said his team remained a work in progress as their performance wasn’t the best they could offer while pouring encomiums on the competitive prowess of the visitors.

He said they placed more emphasis on garnering more points in their away games and ensuring that they did not drop any point at home.
