The outgoing FPRO, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Sunday in a statement he issued.

Described as a seasoned officer with extensive experience in administration, operations, intelligence, training and international peacekeeping, Placid was born on December 2, 1970 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

He hails from Mbiokporo Nsit in Nsit Ibom local government area.

The new FPRO holds a B.Sc. in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Uyo and a Master’s in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos.

He also obtained a Bachelor of Law degree from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Placid joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent at the Police Academy, Kano, in 1996 and was commissioned in August 1998.

He attended a number of professional and international courses, including United Nations Peace Operations Specialised Training.

He holds certifications in Police Studies, Military Studies, Gender Awareness, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights and Civilian Protection.

He had served as Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa and at the Police Staff College, Jos.

Placid also served as Chief of Training for the African Union Mission in Sudan and Head of Training and Development for the United Nations Mission in Darfur.

He worked as Divisional Police Officer in Federal Housing Calabar, Bakassi, Uruan and Gembu.

He also served as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Robbery Unit in Kaduna State and as African Union Election Security Adviser.

His other roles include ACP Operations in Akwa Ibom and Kogi states and ACP, Intelligence Department, Abia.

Placid also served as Deputy in charge of Administration and Finance at Zone 3 Headquarters, Yola.

He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a Commonwealth Human Rights trainer.

He also served as a trainer on International Humanitarian Law for the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Placid is a graduate of Senior Executive Course 47 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

He was inducted as a Member of the National Institute on December 13, 2025 before his redeployment to Cross River.

Speaking with newsmen after a party stakeholders’ meeting in Ikeja, the chairman of the five-man APC Screening Committee, Mr Nungji Salama, said the team was ready to conduct a seamless congress.

Describing the state as a pace-setter, Salama said the committee had made adequate arrangements for a rancour-free exercise across the 20 local government areas.

Salama said: “Today’s exercise is very germane to the success of tomorrow’s exercise.

“We appreciate all the committees set up here to assist in one way or the other for the smooth running of the congress.

“We have successfully conducted the ward congress without any problem. Now, we are starting the processes leading to the LGA congress holding tomorrow.

“We thank all aspirants for offering themselves to serve our great party.

“We want all to serve diligently for the peace and progress of our party. We want to carry out this next exercise in a peaceful atmosphere without any rancour.”

He said the list of screened candidates would be pasted, urging those who did not emerge to be sportsmanlike.

“There will be another time. I hope there will be no rancour and problems,” he added.

Salama explained that 27 executives would emerge in each of the local government areas.

“There are consensus arrangements. If people agree unanimously, we will just go and ratify it,” he said.

In his welcome address, the State APC chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, applauded the committee, saying the assignment was critical to deepening democracy and strengthening the party.

“We cannot thank you enough for the sacrifices, leaving your homes to serve the party. God will reward you accordingly.

“We also appreciate the state technical committee for preparing the ground for the national officers saddled with the responsibility of conducting the congress.

“We, as a party here, do not have the right to conduct the congress because we are an interested party.

“We thank this very eminent personality sent by the national secretariat to conduct this exercise in Lagos State,” he said.

Ojelabi urged party leaders at the local government level to deepen their knowledge of the newly assented amended Electoral Act and called on successful candidates to see their emergence as a call to service.

“It is a call to service for you to deepen our democracy and make an impact in strengthening and mobilising to drive our party.

“It is not going to be business as usual. You are offering yourselves to serve. Be prepared; you must work assiduously for the success of our party.

“You cannot work in isolation. Leadership is very critical in defending our party. The youth cannot be left behind and the power of women cannot be ignored.

“Those of you who want to represent us at the local government level must show capacity and be prepared for the job,” he said.

He expressed optimism that  the executive committees expected to emerge in each of the 20 local government areas would effectively drive the party.

The meeting was attended by party leaders, including the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, and  the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice  Mr Lawal Pedro.

As of the time of filing this report, the list of screened candidates in each of the 20 local government areas had yet to be pasted at the party secretariat.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the arrest and rescue of the victims in Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna State on January 5, followed credible intelligence.

Hundeyin said the Police Command in Kaduna State had received credible intelligence that some suspected bandits were planning to attack and kidnap motorists conveying children through the area.

“Upon receipt of the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kasuwan Magani Division, was promptly mobilised with a team of police personnel to the area.

“On arrival, the police team engaged and successfully repelled the suspected attackers, leading to the rescue of 76 children, comprising both males and females, aged between seven and 20 years.

“All the rescued children were unharmed,” he said.

He said preliminary investigations had revealed that the suspects were conveying the children to some parts of the country for the purpose of child labour and other domestic work.

Hundeyin said the suspects were currently in police custody.

He said the rescued children were being kept safely at the Police Command Headquarters in Kaduna, pending the arrival and proper identification of their parents or guardians.

The police spokesman said investigations to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident and arrest of other possible collaborators involved had commenced.

He said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

“The decision follows a careful review of emerging security concerns and the need to ensure the safety of all citizens,” Hundeyin said.

He noted the court never restrained the police from enforcing laws on tinted vehicle glass at any point.

“The Force, in the spirit of transparency, had suspended enforcement to allow motorists time to regularise documentation and complete registration without pressure.

“Recent trends, however, reveal a disturbing rise in criminal activities involving vehicles with unauthorised tinted glass.

“Some individuals and organised criminal groups exploit this gap to conceal identities, facilitating armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

“In view of this, the Nigeria Police Force finds it necessary and urgent to resume full enforcement proactively,” Hundeyin said.

He said Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, pledged the renewed enforcement would respect citizens’ rights and comply with all extant laws.

“The I-G also assured that the Force remains committed to public safety, upholding the rule of law, and working collaboratively with stakeholders.

“Motorists requiring Tinted Glass Permits are encouraged to apply through approved channels and ensure vehicles comply with legal procedures,” he said.

The warning was given in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in Abuja.

The warning, he said, followed the order of a Federal High Court, Abuja.

He explained that following a suit between the Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Omoyele Sowore & 4 others, on October 17, the court restrained any form of protest around the Aso Rock and its environs.

The statement reads in part: “The order restrains the respondents and any other persons or groups acting under their instruction from staging protests within and around Aso Rock Villa and its environs.

“Other area are the National Assembly Complex, Force Headquarters, the Court of Appeal, Eagle Square and Shehu Shagari Way.

“Accordingly, all intending protesters and counter-protest groups are strongly advised to avoid restricted areas and to refrain from any act, capable of provoking confrontation or disturbing public order.”

Hundeyin gave the assurance that the police would ensure the free flow of traffic, protection of lives and property, and security of all law-abiding citizens.

He warned that any person or group that might want to use the opportunity of the protests to incite violence, carry or use offensive weapons, vandalise public or private property, kidnap, or engage in acts likely to cause loss of life or serious injury would be dealt with decisively.

He added that offenders would be arrested, subjected to full investigation, and prosecuted under relevant criminal laws, including laws relating to public order, violent conduct and terrorism where applicable.

The police spokesman said those who incite others via social media or other platforms would be investigated and prosecuted, using digital evidence.

He said the Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Mr Kayode Egbetokun, had directed the Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and relevant operational commands to ensure strict enforcement of the court’s order.

Hundeyin said the I-G had directed the CP to maintain visible and strategic deployments across vulnerable locations, and ensure the safety of residents and lawful activities in the FCT.

He urged organisers of the protest and participants to avoid the restricted areas specified by the court and refrain from carrying weapons, engaging in provocative conduct, or encouraging others to breach the law.

Hundeyin also urged the protesters to channel their grievances through the courts and other lawful avenues rather than the streets.

The police spokesman said adequate security arrangements had been made to protect lives and property of law-abiding Nigerians.

He enjoined those, not engaging in the protest to go about their lawful businesses without fear as anyone found to be in breach of the court’s order or in contempt of the law would be arrested and prosecuted.

Hundeyin’s appointment followed the re-deployment of Adejobi to the Police Command in Delta.

Adejobi said Hundeyin holds a Bachelor of Art Degree in English Language from the Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.

He said that the new FPRO also obtained a Certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.

“The new FPRO is an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a member of the International Public Relations Association, IPRA, and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, CIPM.

‎”A seasoned communicator, Hundeyin previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

“He was part of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID) in 2020, and served as the Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Abuja,” he said.

‎‎He quoted the I-G as enjoining Hundeyin to leverage his communications and security experience to bolster the Force Public Relations activities.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Hundeyin said that the incident happened on Wednesday around 11:00 a.m.

“There was an incident of a free-for-all between some hoodlums and miscreants in the Balogun Market today.

“During the fight, the suspect from Abia stabbed the victim from Kogi to death and the suspect in turn stabbed himself on the shoulder and became unconscious.

“He is currently under arrest in the hospital where he is being treated,” he said.

The spokesperson emphasised that there was no inter-ethnic conflict or unrest occurred.

“There was no tribal clash or disturbance between any ethnic groups and the others inside Balogun Market.

“Normalcy has been restored. Marketers and the general public on the Island and other parts of state are encouraged to go about their businesses and other lawful endeavours without fear or apprehension,” he said.

According to him, investigation into the matter will be concluded and the suspect will be prosecuted after he has been discharged from the hospital.

He said that the police apprehended the suspects, who were between the ages of 31 and 54, at different locations in the state.

“On August 13, operatives of Ilemba Hausa Division intercepted and apprehended one of the suspects, suspected to be an okada operator and a recruiter, in possession of a 15-year-old female victim who was on the verge of being trafficked to Ghana for prostitution.

“The case was, thereafter, transferred to the Special Squad I of the command which, backed by actionable intelligence, launched a swift and coordinated manhunt that led to the apprehension of the other three suspects.

“Investigation revealed that all apprehended suspects are part of the criminal network that recruits and traffics young women from Nigeria to Ghana, ” he said.

The image maker explained that further investigations led to the safe rescue of additional 10 victims, aged between 21 and 29.

“All rescued persons are now in protective care, receiving the necessary support and assistance, while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.

The spokesperson said that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional response.

“CP Jimoh, while commending the operatives for their swift and professional action, reaffirms the command’s zero tolerance for human trafficking and exploitation.

“CP urges the public to remain vigilant, monitor the welfare of young persons, and promptly report suspicious activities to the police,” Hundeyin said.
