										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>No fewer than three people lost their lives following a clash on Saturday between security operatives and suspected drug peddlers at Koraman Nayalle, Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters in Katsina metropolis.</p>
<p>The incident was said to have begun when security operatives attempted to arrest one of the peddlers called Uzairu, popularly known as ‘Kuda’ and confiscated his mobile phone and suspected illicit drugs.</p>
<p>As Kuda mobilised his friends to retrieve his phone from the operatives, the situation escalated into chaos, during which he was shot, and later confirmed dead.</p>
<p>The confrontation sparked anger and unrest in the area, causing the violence to intensify and eventually leading to the death of three people.</p>
<p>An Outpost of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and some motorcycles were set ablaze.</p>
<p>The neighborhood remained tense, with the residents living in fear of further violence, while the authorities were making frantic efforts to restore calm.</p>
<p>The NSCDC Public Relations Officer in Katsina, SC Buhari Hamisu, who confirmed the incident, said that the situation had been put under control.</p>
<p>He said that after the earlier incident, friends of the deceased attempted to destroy another NSCDC and Police outposts at Filin Kanada, but were dispersed.</p>
<p>According to Hamisu, investigation is ongoing to ascertain the main cause of the clash, calling on residents to remain calm.</p>
<p>Also, the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, confirmed the incident, saying that it escalated during the funeral procession of the deceased on Sunday.</p>
<p>He further urged the public to always exercise maximum restraint and avoid taking the law into their hands.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Bauchi State Police Command has rescued two abducted minors and arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as a family member of the victims in Jos, Plateau.</p>
<p>Mr Ahmad Wakil, the command’s spokesman confirmed the incident to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi.</p>
<p>He said the children, Halima Hamisu, 12-year-old and her six-year-old brother, Mohammed, were kidnapped at Tilden Fulani, Toro local government area of Bauchi, on October 23.</p>
<p>According to Wakil, the children’s father, Aliyu Hamisu, reported that the minors were abducted while waiting for their school bus to convey them.</p>
<p>The suspect later demanded the sum of ₦50 million as ransom but after negotiation, agreed to collect ₦1.2 million.</p>

<p>“Police operatives, acting on intelligence, apprehended the suspect at Farmers Motors’ Junction, Bauchi, during a ransom pickup operation.</p>
<p>“Further investigation led detectives to Anguwan Rukuba in Jos, where the children were safely rescued and reunited with their family.</p>
<p>“The arrested suspect, identified as  a relative of the victims, confessed to committing the crime over a family dispute,” Wakil said.</p>
<p>The spokesman also said the police had arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves in separate operations in Bauchi metropolis.</p>
<p>According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed that all the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation and prosecution.</p>
<p>He, therefore, urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt intervention.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Katsina command, has killed four suspected terrorists in Dutsinma local government area of the state.</p>
<p>The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Buhari Hamisu, confirmed this in a statement on Monday.</p>
<p>He said two separate attacks were repelled.</p>
<p>According to him, operatives repelled an attack by suspected armed bandits who stormed the permanent site of the Federal University, Dutsinma, FUDMA, on February 21.</p>
<p>“The gallant men of NSCDC attached to the university successfully neutralised three criminals, including the notorious Ayuba Buzaru, who stormed the institution as their route,” he said.</p>
<p>The team also rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered some rustled goats, the NSCDC spokesman revealed.</p>

<p>He added that NSCDC personnel, in a joint operation with the police, repelled another attack on Sunday, February 23, at the Federal Government Special Grains Reserve (Silo) in Darawa.</p>
<p>Hamisu stated, “The valiant operatives overpowered the criminals, neutralising one suspected armed bandit, while others fled with gunshot wounds.”</p>
<p>He confirmed that the body of the suspected criminal had been deposited at General Hospital Dutsinma.</p>
<p>“The armed bandits have been attempting to attack the Silo, which stores grains distributed to people in Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto,” he added.</p>
<p>The Corps personnel also dispersed another group of suspected armed bandits at Gago Village, near Isah Kaita College of Education in Dutsinma.</p>
<p>“The command remains dedicated to promoting safety and security for the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole, while protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure,” he said.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Troops of Nigeria’s military have neutralised 212 terrorists, apprehended 317 suspects and rescued 152 kidnap hostages through a well executed operation across the country in the last one week.</p>
<p>The Director Defence Media Operations, Maj.- Gen. Edward Buba, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.</p>
<p>Buba said that the troops were on high alert and  had increased readiness to protect the country from further terrorist aggression, particularly during the yuletide.</p>
<p>“Accordingly, robust operations targeted at terrorist leadership are being conducted across the various theatres of operations.</p>
<p>“Significantly, a high profile terrorists identified as Hamisu Sale (a.k.a. Master) and Abubakar Muhammad were arrested during separate operations conducted in North Central theatre of operation,” he said.</p>
<p>According to him, the duo are cooperating and providing valuable intelligence on the terror network.</p>
<p>He said that similarly, troops in the North West theatre of operation, arrested another high profile and  notorious terrorist identified as Bako Wurgi.</p>
<p>”The arrested terror leader is linked to the murder of the Sokoto monarch and a staunch ally of wanted high profile terrorist Bello Turji.</p>
<p>”The arrested terrorist leader, Bako Wurgi, eventually succumbed to gun shot injuries sustained during the fire fight.</p>
<p>”He nevertheless provided valuable intelligence to support troops operations before he died.</p>
<p>”During the week under review, troops neutralised 212 and arrested 272 persons.</p>
<p>”Troops also arrested 45 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 152 kidnapped hostages,” he said.</p>
<p>He said that in the South-South, troops denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of N1.19bn.</p>
<p>Buba said that the troops also recovered 247 assorted weapons and 6,174 assorted ammunition.</p>
<p>”The recovered weapon include two RPG UXO4, 110 AK47 rifles, 56 fabricated rifles, 36 dane guns, two FN rifles, two baretta pistols, 15 locally made pistols and two revolver pistols.</p>
<p>”Others are 12 pump action guns, two double barrel guns, one single barrel gun, one RPG bomb, one RPG tube, two exploded RPG chargers, one PKM link, one link of GPMG and 70 AK47 magazines.</p>
<p>“It also includes 3,235 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,583 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 130 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammo, 400 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 92 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo.</p>
<p>“Also recovered are 107 rounds of 9mm ammo, 311 live cartridges, one FN magazine, three bandoliers, five Baofeng radios, eight vehicles, 51 motorcycles and 103 mobile phones amongst other items.”</p>
<p>He said that troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 35 crude oil cooking ovens, 27 dugout pits, 35 boats, 51 storage tanks and 61 illegal refining sites.</p>
<p>”Other items recovered include five speedboats, five receivers, 59 drums, three motorcycles, three mobile phones and eight vehicles among others.</p>
<p>”Troops recovered 940,372 litres of stolen crude oil, 252,000 litres of illegally refined AGO and 132 litres of PMS.</p>
<p>”Overall, troops are bent on achieving sustainable peace in the nation by ensuring that the terrorist are held to account for any act of aggression against citizens.”</p>
<p>He urged citizens to always say something whenever they see something for maximum results.</p>
