The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made the announcement in Abuja in a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Aviation, Mr. James Odaudu.

It would be recalled that domestic flights were suspended on March 20 as part of measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The flights, according to him, would resume at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

He said the resumption date of flights at Port Harcourt, Owerri, Maiduguri and Kano airports is July 11.

Other airports across the country, he added, would resume flights on July 15.

The minister said the date for the resumption of international flights would be announced later.

He urged passengers to follow the guidelines and protocols put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

His words: “I thank stakeholders in aviation industry and Nigerian public who have to cope with the adverse effects of flight suspension for their perseverance and cooperation in ensuring a successful return of operations at the nation’s airports.

“Passengers are highly advised to follow all the safety guidelines and protocols put in place to ensure that the airports don’t become channels of infection for the dreaded coronavirus.

“Government will do all within its powers to ensure a rapid recovery of the aviation industry.”
