]]> Human rights activist and labour leader, Mr. Ayodele Akele, is dead.

He died on Tuesday after a protracted illness.

Former National Secretary of the National Conscience Party, NCP, Akele was the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

He became very popular during the struggle by Lagos State workers for improved wage and living condition under the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the state.

He was popular as a committed labour leader.
