]]> President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Deputy Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, as the Acting Inspector General of Police.

The appointment is with immediate effect.

The Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmed, made this known on his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

He quoted the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi as announcing the “President’s directive this afternoon.”

Alkali Baba replaces the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.

Buhari extended the tenure of the Adamu by three months on February 4, 2021.
