The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has arrested seven suspects following a clash at the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, headquarters in Abuja.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja.

She said videos circulating on social media alleging police personnel shot NURTW members were “false and misleading.”

Adeh added that the videos were intended to “arouse public sentiment and misinform residents.”

She said the command received a distress call at about 7:00 a.m. on Monday, reporting about 300 individuals storming the NURTW headquarters in Garki.

Adeh said the individuals, armed with cutlasses, bottles, bows and arrows, were reportedly removing items from the premises.

“In a swift response, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Mr Isyaku Sharu, led a team to the scene.

“Preliminary investigations showed the suspects were attempting to enforce a court order without court sheriffs or authorised officials present,” Adeh said.

She said the action escalated into a confrontation when other NURTW members resisted the move.

Adeh said one union member sustained a severe machete injury to the neck during the clash.

She said the victim was rescued, while others with varying injuries were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Adeh said the seven suspects had been charged to court and normalcy restored in the area.

She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all FCT residents.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command has arrested three notorious armed robbery suspects involved in “one-chance” criminal operations and the gruesome murder of a legal practitioner, Barrister Chigbo Princess Nwamaka Mediatrix.

The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja, SP Josephine Adeh, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday.

The arrest was said to have followed clear directives issued by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, PSC, to ensure that all perpetrators connected to the heinous murder of the victim and other similar crimes within the FCT were swiftly identified and brought to justice.

Between 5th and 10th January, 2026, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, acting on reconstructive digital intelligence, tracked the victim’s mobile phone and conducted follow up operations at Dei-Dei, Dakwa, and Dan-Tata communities within Kubwa Area of the FCT.

The police spokesperson said the intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the following suspects:

Saifullahi Yusuf (Male, 22 years) – from Kaduna State, resident at Dan-Tata Community, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

Ishau Yusuf (Male, 24 years) – from , Kaduna State, resident at Dan-Tata Community, Dei-Dei, Abuja.

Minka’ilu Jibril, also known as Dan-Hajia – from, Kaduna State.

The police pointed out that the first and second suspects were biological brothers.

She said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery syndicate that had been operating on and off within the FCT for several years, particularly during festive periods.

Further investigations, it was said, revealed that on 5th January, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., Barr. Princess Chigbo unknowingly boarded their black Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, unaware that the occupants were criminals.

Upon entry into the vehicle, the suspects wound up the tinted windows and threatened the victim with weapons in an attempt to force her to pay ransom for her own release.

When she allegedly refused to cooperate, she was physically assaulted and pushed out of the moving vehicle along the Kubwa Expressway, resulting in her death.

The spokesperson said the suspects further admitted to dispossessing the victim of her Android mobile phone, which was later sold at Dei-Dei for the sum of One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira (₦120,000). From which:

Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000

Saifullahi Yusuf received ₦15,000

Ishau Yusuf and another suspect currently at large, Musa, shared the remaining amount.

The police said during the arrest, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspects:

Five (5) scissors

Two (2) sharp dagger knives

Two (2) knives

One (1) long chain used for restraining victims

One (1) plier

The spokesperson stated further: “These items are believed to have been used in the commission of their criminal activities.

Investigation is ongoing, and intensive efforts are in top gear to apprehend the remaining suspect currently at large, as well as to uncover any additional criminal networks linked to the syndicate.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, PSC, commends the professionalism and dedication of the operatives involved and reassures residents of the FCT that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to rid the Territory of criminal elements. Members of the public are once again advised to remain vigilant, avoid boarding unregistered or suspicious vehicles, and promptly report any suspicious activities through the Commands emergency numbers: 08032003913, 07057337653.”

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has arrested four suspects for allegedly staging a fake kidnapping to extort N5 million from the elderly father of two of the suspects.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

She said the suspects, including two daughters of the victim, conspired to fake the abduction in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja to demand ransom.

According to Adeh, the arrest followed a report by one Mr Innocent at the Jikwoyi Divisional Headquarters on July 30, after his 16-year-old daughter left home on July 18 for an exam at Government Secondary School, Karu, and failed to return.

He later received a call from unknown individuals demanding ransom for her release.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jikwoyi Division immediately launched a discreet investigation.

“Through coordinated intelligence gathering and digital tracking, the phone number used to contact the complainant was traced to a residence in Jikwoyi Phase II.

“Operatives proceeded to the location, where they found the daughter in the company of two of the suspects, all seen eating and conversing freely, indicating no signs of distress,” she said.

Adeh said further investigations led to the arrest of the elder sister of the alleged victim and her boyfriend.

She said investigations revealed that the elder sister conspired with her boyfriend— legally married to another woman—to stage her younger sister’s kidnapping in a bid to defraud their father of N5 million.

“It was further uncovered that the staged victim was not only aware of the plan but was an active participant.

“She willingly stayed with the suspects throughout the period of her alleged abduction.

“The elder sister remained at home and feigned ignorance, watching her parents’ anguish and emotional distress as they struggled to raise money for the supposed ransom,” she said.

Adeh said the four suspects were currently in police custody and had voluntarily confessed to the crime.

She said the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Adeh said the Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Mr Ajao Adewale, had strongly condemned the act of betrayal and manipulation, particularly one perpetrated within the family.

He urged parents and guardians to pay close attention to their children’s emotional wellbeing and behavioural patterns to encourage regular and honest communication at home.

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, police command has described as untrue, reports that a retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang, was kidnapped and subsequently killed in Abuja.

The reports indicated that the former CG was attacked in Area 1 axis of Abuja Tuesday morning.

Parradang was said to have been trailed from a bank where he had withdrawn money before he was killed after he was dispossessed of cash.

Debunking the claim, the FCT command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement said:

‘’On March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Mr. Parradang arrived at Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, driving a black Mercedes Benz. He checked into the hotel, paying a sum of Twenty two thousand naira (N22,000) for one night’s stay. Shortly thereafter, he directed the hotel room attendant to escort a female guest who had come to visit to his room. This lady left the hotel premises around 04:00 p.m. of the same day.
