The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated the Amavubi of Rwanda in a FIFA World Cup qualifier game played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
In the match which was played on Saturday, Tolu Arokodare’s goal secured the victory for the Super Eagles.
With the victory, the hope that the Super Eagles would qualify for the World Cup was revived.
Although the Super Eagles were high possession, it was an arduous task defeating the Rwandan team.
However, barely five after minutes of his introduction into the match, Arokodare scored in the 51s minute.
Nigeria held firm to the point despite the pressure mounted by the Rwandan team for an equalizer.
With the victory, the Super Eagles now occupy third position in Group C with 10 points from seven matches, behind South Africa (16 points) and Benin Republic (11 points).
Next, the Super Eagles will encounter South Africa in a do-or-die battle in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
A victory for the Super Eagles in the match will bring back hope of qualification.
