Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola, and other former Lagos State governors and their deputies will soon cease to enjoy pension and other benefits.
The hint was given on Tuesday by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State while presenting budget estimate to Lagos State House of Assembly.
He said the public officers’ pension law under which the former governors and their deputies enjoy the benefits would soon be repealed.
According to the governor, an executive bill would soon be sent to the House of Assembly to that effect.
He hinged the decision on the dwindling fortune of the state.
His words: “We will be sending an executive bill in a couple of weeks to this honourable house to repeal the pension law.
“This pension law is for pension paid to former public officers such as the former governors and former deputy governors.
“The repeal of the act is due to the dwindling revenue to the state government’s account.”
