The Police Command in Lagos State has apprehended a 28-year-old man during a routine stop-and-search operation at Ikotun area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed this in a statement shared on her X handle @AbimbolaShotayo on Wednesday.
She said that the suspect was apprehended during stop and search operations.
“The suspect was apprehended at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday by operatives of the command while carrying out routine security checks in the area.
“A locally made pistol was recovered from him at the point of arrest,” she said.
The image maker said that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was returning from a criminal operation and was heading towards Ayobo when he was intercepted by the police.
The spokesperson said that the command reaffirmed its dedication to fighting crime and maintaining the safety and security of all residents in the state.
According to her, investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and possible accomplices.
