The Police command in Oyo State on Saturday said it had begun investigating alleged threat notes by suspected bandits targeting Ikoyi-Ile, Orire local government area.

Residents reportedly found two handwritten threat notes on Friday, dropped at the front and rear of a building in Ikoyi-Ile.

The notes warned residents of an impending attack, allegedly scheduled for Tuesday, according to information gathered by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Ikoyi-Ile is among Orire communities previously attacked, where suspected bandits killed five forest guards of Old Oyo National Park.

Police spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the incident, saying, “The individual who discovered the note is undergoing debriefing.”

He added, “The command has launched a full-scale investigation to determine the origin and intent of the note.”

Olayinka thanked residents for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance while investigations continued.
