The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has declared that the successful organisation of the national convention of the party on Saturday had put skeptics to shame.

According to him, many had predicted that the convention which was held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and the presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku, was elected would end up in chaos.

He said the peaceful emergence of a candidate despite had shown that the journey by the PDP to take over government in 2019 had begun.

He praised all those who contributed to the success of the convention, saying that they had all displayed the determination to ensuring that PDP returned to power.

According to a statement issued by his media aide, Ike Abonyi, Secondus said the success of the convention had also proved that the rebranding of the party was already having its desired effect.

“The support from members and non-members to the reform agenda of the party that culminated in the successful primaries from ward to national levels shows clearly the determination of Nigerians to return PDP to power…

“Special recognition must be made of those whose yeoman roles made it possible, all those who participated either as aspirants, or as facilitators.’’

He listed for special mention, Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Okowa was the chairman of the national convention committee of the PDP.

He also praised the host governor, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and other governors of the PDP for their immense contribution.
