The governor of Ondo State, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has asserted that the priority of his administration is to ensure adequate security of all the citizens and residents living in the state.

The governor made the assertion in his remarks at the closing ceremony for 2024 Batch ‘A’ (Stream II) corps members deployed to Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa, who was represented at the low key ceremony by the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, said that the state would continue to strive, more than ever before, to ensure that corps members in all the nooks and crannies of the state received special security attention.

He said that while the state would make their stay comfortable and enjoyable, they had a role to play in making sure they were identified as corps members all the time and avoiding mixing with miscreants and hoodlums.

The governor enjoined them to accept their postings in good faith and at the same time craft their names on stones in the development and transformation of the rural communities by embarking on projects that met their immediate needs.

“Most of your predecessors have set an enviable record in this regard and you cannot afford to let them and the nation down. I urge you, therefore, to rededicate yourselves by making the best use of this once in a life time opportunity in the service of our people.”

The governor assured members of the service corps that the state was very hospitable, advising them to aclimatise and integrate with the people of their communities.

He also urged them to respect their world view, culture, values, beliefs and aspirations.

The governor commended them for their good behaviour while in camp, and admonished them to continue in that stead as good ambassadors of their families and the country.

Conclusively, the governor enjoined them to acquire at least one life skill before the end of the service year so that they would be contributing to the socio-economic development of Ondo State and Nigeria in general.

The orientation course commenced three weeks ago and 1773 registered for the service in Ondo State.

Two camp officials, who distinguished themselves during the orientation course were honoured and presented Letters of Commendation.

They are Corporal Oluwole Emmanuel from Nigeria Police and Comrade Babatunde Oyelami from the NYSC.
