The chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development  Area, LCDA, Mr. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, has announced plans by his administration to construct a Computer Based Test Centre in Lagos Baptist Senior Secondary School, Orile Agege, Lagos, within the next one year.

Idowu made the announcement on Wednesday at the 2026 seminar for SSS3 students organised by the Lagos Baptist Secondary School Old Students Association.

The seminar organised to prepare the students ahead of the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination, was coordinated by the president of the 1984 set of the old students, Mr. Benjamin Akindele Ojo.

The organisers enjoyed the support of the Principal of the school, Mrs. Modupe Shofela, teachers and non-teaching staff of the school.

Speaking as the chairman of the occasion held at the school premises, the LCDA boss said the facility would be his administration’s contribution to the development of education in his area.

According to him, the facility will be of 250 systems minimum capacity and will be supplied with internet.

He added that there would also be an E-Library in the facility.

“We want to make public schools better than private schools,” he said.

Idowu who expressed enthusiasm about the seminar,  applauded the old students, describing their efforts as laudable and worthy of emulation.

Addressing the occasion, the LCDA boss advised the parents to contribute to the success of their children.

He said success was often not by accident but by being intentional.

“You should ask yourselves if you are playing your roles as parents to the success of your children. Your roles as parents are crucial to their success and you have to play those roles very well.  No matter how much the teachers may try, your roles remain crucial in the success or failure of your children,” he advised.

Alarmed by the level of depravity in the society, the LCDA boss said his government was ready to cooperate with the parents to reform and transform the children.

He also urged the students to be serious with their studies in order to achieve greatness in the future.

He said education was a vital key to success, stressing that without education, he would not have become the chairman of Orile Agege LCDA.

The seminar, second in a series, was organised by the old students of the school under the aegis of Lagos Baptist Secondary School Old Students Association.

The theme of this year seminar is “Empowering Minds for a Transformed Future: The Legacy of Learning and Leadership.”

The first speaker, Muhammad Quieyaz Adebayo, spoke on the topic, “Beyond WAEC: Character That Secures Your Future”; the second resource person, Mr. Yinka Sonuga spoke on “Integrity in Examination: Choosing the Right Path”; the third resource person, Mrs. Funsho Fakorede, spoke on “The Influence of Parents and Guardians on WAEC Success” while the fourth resource person, Mr. Ademola Abiodun, spoke on “Peer Review, Not Peer Distraction: The Smart Path to WAEC Success”.

The guest speaker, Pastor Ogunleye Gbenga, spoke on “Using Technology the Right Way to Pass WASSCE.”

The Master of Ceremony was an old student and renowned medical practitioner, Dr Aina Olufemi Odusola, while renowned journalists and Publisher of FrontPage, a leading online newspaper, Mr. Sakibu Olokojobi, gave the vote of thanks at the occasion.
