The Olota of Ota, Professor Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, has been appointed as the co-ordinator of the Olofin Ogunfunminire Descendants Rebirth.

The appointment was announced by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, in a letter dated December 10, 2019, to congratulate the people of Awori kingdom over the recent celebration of Olofin day.

He said the appointment would lead to the establishment of the Olofin National assembly, ONA.

The letter reads: “I celebrate again with you on your visit to your root to celebrate the second Olofin Day. As custodian, my joy knew no bounds to see all you descendants to Oduduwa continually seize the right and privilege to be true sons and daughters of Odudwa.

“I seize this opportunity to appoint you as the coordinator of the Olofin Ogunfunminire Descendants Rebirth. It will culminate in the establishment of the Olofin National Assembly, ONA. This is due to your deep seethed traditional interest in uniting your entire lineage drawn from Ooni Aribiwoso, the 34th Ooni of Ife. This role will be co-ordinated with Asiwaju Michael Olawale-Cole, a descendant whose deep interest you will deeply appreciate.”

The Ooni said ONA would be part of greatness and the gathering of all descendants of Olofin Ogunfunmnire to create a lasting bond of family, establish unity and oneness and maintain control of their wealth vis-à-vis what is required by international standard.

Its mission, he said, was to create a family bond by uniting with all who share the same fatherly blood both locally and internationally and to harness their blessings and rebuild the traditional ties through inter-cultural mix.

“My co-ordinator, Adewale Williams (Ileya Omo O’odua and his team will do everything to ensure this project comes to fruition. I hope to celebrate this success during the nex Ileya Omo O’odua festival coming up in December 2020,” the Ooni said in the letter.
