The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Wilfred Olatokunbo Afolabi, has assured the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, management that lives and properties of corps members would be adequately safeguarded in the state.
The Commissioner of Police gave the assurance when he had in audience, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, and her management team.
Afolabi, while advising corps members to avoid actions inimical to the growing image of the NYSC charged them to be conversant with security tips and other valuable pamphlets provided them to help them navigate the service year successfully.
The new police boss admonished the corps members to be conversant with their civic rights as citizens.
He reminded the NYSC team that corps members were not above the law and should continue to be law abiding.
He promised that his command would do its utmost best to ensure their safety at all times while adding that corps members should not take their status as a ticket to misbehave, saying that the Constitution of the Federal Republic which guaranteed security for all citizens and residents, equally had provision to deal with erring citizens.

The CP said that he maintained an open door policy and would be willing to address issues concerning members of the service corps brought to his notice, saying that the Nigeria Police Force and the NYSC were partners in progress.
Explaining her mission to the State Headquarters of the Police Command, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare said she called to felicitate with the CP on his well-deserved appointment.
Bakare, who intimated her host that the NYSC and Nigeria Police had very good and cordial relationships over the years, appealed to the new Police boss to give priority to issues relating to corps members in his agenda for the state.
The NYSC Ondo State boss, while praising the conducts of officers and men deployed for national assignment at the NYSC orientation camp, hinged on the need for the personnel to maintain professional boundaries when dealing with corps members.
She said that the youths of nowadays would want to go out of legitimate ways to achieve whatever they set ahead of them, but admonished the personnel of the collaborating agencies to allow their actions to be guided by code of conduct for all camp officials.
She reminded the commissioner that the scheme frowned at over-socialization which had the tendency to undermine the discipline of corps members.
While wishing the new Police Chief a peaceful and successful administration, the NYSC Ondo State helmsman said that she looked forward to continuous support and assistance during his tenure.
