The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, in Ondo State, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare has tasked corps members to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of the founding fathers of the scheme.
The state coordinator gave the charge during the Closing Ceremony/Terminal Parade for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ (Stream II) corps members deployed to Ondo State and their counterparts dislodged from Lagos State.
Bakare emphasised the objective of the scheme which included mobilising and exposing the highly skilled segment of the youthful population of Nigeria to the complexities, challenges and realities of the country’s socio-political existence as a people with a common destiny.
She expected the members of the service corps to imbibe and internalise the lessons they had learnt within the short period of their orientation and make them guiding principles throughout the service year and beyond.
“You must, therefore, put yourselves at the forefront of the promotion of our crusade for national re-orientation of rebirth as enunciated by our dear president. You must also give impetus to our quest for a renewed sense of oneness in an egalitarian nation where no man is oppressed”.
The NYSC Ondo State boss reassured corps members deployed to Ondo State and those dislodged from Lagos State that their respective states were peaceful and one of the priorities of those governments was the safety of lives and property of all, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious leanings.

“Most of your predecessors have set enviable records in this regard, and you cannot afford to let them and the nation down. I urge you, therefore, to rededicate yourselves by making the best use of this once in a lifetime opportunity in the service of our people”.
Bakare commended them for the reports of their good behaviour while on camp and admonished them to continue in that stead as good ambassadors of their respective families and the country.
“Also, endeavour to acquire at least one life skill before the end of your service year, and you will be happy not only contributing to the socio-economic development of your respective states but Nigeria in general,” she said.
The coordinator enjoined them to obtain official permission from relevant and appropriate authorities before embarking on any journey, and warned them against travelling in the night for any reason.
The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare-Akoko hosted 1291 corps members deployed to Ondo State and 781 dislodged from Lagos State.
