The Police Command in Ogun State has said that it has recovered a stolen Mercedes-Benz GLK, an AK-47 rifle and two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition in Ota.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Abeokuta.
Babaseyi said the command recorded the operational success during its ongoing policing efforts in Ota, with the recovery of the vehicle, rifle and ammunition.
He said a search of the unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK led to the discovery of the AK-47 rifle and two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
“The vehicle and recovered exhibits have been secured, while investigation continues,” he said.
According to him, the development followed an earlier operation at Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota, where police operatives responded to a robbery incident.
Babaseyi said the operation led to the neutralisation of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of two vehicles, suspected stolen property and a locally made pistol with ammunition.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism.
Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property.
He reassured residents of continued vigilance and urged them to sustain their cooperation with the police by providing timely and relevant information.
