The Director, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Southwest Area Office 1, Mrs. Olubukola Oluwaremilekun Abiodun, has assured corps members that the scheme will not compromise their security and welfare.

The director gave the assurance when she addressed the 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.

Abiodun directed the members of the service corps to read and digest carefully the NYSC Byelaw so that they would not run foul of the rules and regulations governing their stay in camp.

She reminded them of the regimented nature of the orientation course and urged them to assimilate the orientation course contents so that when they got to the field, they would know how best to tackle the difficulties and challenges associated with the society, which she described as multi-faceted.

While admonishing the corps participants not to expose themselves through the use of social media, the director asserted that no one had the ability to protect or secure their lives more than themselves.

She said that the best programme that had ever happened to graduate youths was the establishment of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, by NYSC to reduce post-service redundancy and unemployment.

She said that NYSC had carefully selected the skill sub sets to make the corps members become financially responsible and economically stable to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Abiodun, while advising those who wanted to seek relocation under frivolous excuse to have a rethink and believe in the absolute direction of the creator who sent them to Ondo State for a purpose, declared that those who listened to the voice of reasoning and stay back would have testimonies at the end of the service year.

The NYSC boss in the Southwest Area Office 1 warned corps members against involving themselves in crimes, especially cyber and internet fraud, even as she declared that NYSC uniform was not an immunity against crimes.

She encouraged them to promote the unity and integration of the country in line with the objectives of the founding fathers of the scheme so that inter cultural affinity and mixed marriages between the corps members would further deepen the indivisibility of the country, Nigeria.

In his opening address, the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple thanked the director for coming to see her children despite her crowded schedules.

Pepple told her that the corps members had exhibited high degree of discipline since they arrived the camp, a week earlier.

Pepple, who acknowledged the support of all the camp officials in his address said that the crop of personnel released by the stakeholders greatly assisted to run seamlessly the activities of the orientation course.
