Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu, is dead

Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as “Mr Ibu”, is dead.

He was 62 years old.

His death was announced on Saturday by the National President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas, on his Instagram page.

Rollas disclosed that Mr. Ibu died of cardiac arrest.

His words: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager of 24 years, Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”

It would be recalled that in October last years, Okafor appealed to the general public and fans for financial support over an ailment when there were plans to amputate one of his legs.

The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation soon came to his rescue, paying off the medical bill.

In November, 2023, his leg was amputated as a way of keeping him alive.

A comedian of note, Okafor participated in many movies.
