The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, is fit to stand trial as his ailment is not life-threatening.
The declaration was made by the medical team led by the president of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, set up to find out the state of the health of Nnamdi Kanu.
Recall that Justice James Omotosho ordered the medical team to carry out a probe into his state of health as there were conflicting reports about it.
In the report of the team, submitted to the court on October 13 by the prosecution team led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), it was declared that Kanu’s ailment was not life-threatening, hence he was fit to stand trial.
It was against that background that Justice Omotosho said the court was sure that Kanu could continue with the trial.
Justice Omotosho therefore granted the defendant six consecutive days, starting from October 23, to open and close his defence.
