The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, on Tuesday received a new batch of 131 stranded Nigerian returnees from Libya.
The returnees were received by the Director General of the agency, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, who was represented by the Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye.
The returnees arrived the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG
The flight arrived Nigeria at about 1929 hours.
The breakdown of the stranded Nigerian returnees showed that 72 female adults, 6 girls and four female infants were among the newly voluntarily assisted returnees
Also, 31 men, 11 boys and 7 infant males completed the new batch of 131 brought back courtesy of the International Organisation for Migration, IOM, in a special intervention sponsored by the European Union.
This batch has brought the total number of Voluntary Assisted Returnees to 1,052 so far this year from Libya.
Other agencies on ground with NEMA are the Nigerian Immigration Service; National Commission for Refugees; NAPTIP; NSCDC; Nigerian Port Health; DSS and FAAN.
