National Record publisher loses father, Elder Abah Onah

Elder Abah Lazarus Onah, father of the publisher of the National Record, Iduh L. Onah, is dead.

Elder Onah died in the early hours of Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at an estimated age of 83 years.

Elder Onah hails from Ogene in Amejo Ward, Edumoga District of Okpokwu local government area of Benue State, North Central Nigeria.

A brief statement by the family, signed by Barrister Theresa Onyikwu Abah, the deceased’s granddaughter, said the octogenarian passed on from diabetes-related illness.

A devout Catholic and member of the Catholic Men Organisation, CMO, as well as the Holy Family, Elder Pa Onah’s wife, Mrs Onyikwu Theresa Onah, died in 2012.

A father, grandfather and great-grandmother, Pa Onah is survived by eight children – Comrade Onah, Mrs Janet Agbo, Mrs Maria Ameh, Mrs Jumbia Etuka; Mrs Margarete Oji, Mrs Mary Oheitonye, Mr Sunday, Mr Onah J. Onah, and Dr (Mrs) Juliana Ejeikwu.

Details regarding the final burial rites will be announced in due time.
