Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has officially joined the comity of campus radio institutions in Nigeria, following the approval of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, to begin test transmission on 99.7FM.
According to the Head, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. ‘Yemi Ajibola, in a statement made available to FrontPage, the test transmission will take immediate effect while full operation will commence later on the same frequency modulation as the “Voice of Development”.
While reacting to the development, the Acting Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, said the feat was in tandem with the vision of the state government upon returning the Polytechnic to status quo.
He added that the campus radio would not only serve as a practical medium for modern broadcast journalism but also enhance communication among MAPOLY’s ecosystem through educational and developmental programmes both terrestrially and online via www.mapolyradio.com.
Odedeji assured that the radio station would take off when the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, would be visiting the polytechnic for re-accreditation of programmes and resource inspection of 17 new programmes by August this year.
