The Vice-Chancellor, Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, has charged stakeholders in the institution to bring up a high profile network in fund-raising for the university.

The vice-chancellor made the call on Wednesday in her opening address at a two-day workshop on qualitative administration of college, directorates and departments in the university.

At the event held at the Oto-Ijanikin campus of the university, she enjoined participants to explore goodwill with highly placed individuals and corporate bodies to generate more revenue to supplement government subvention.

Lafiaji-Okuneye said that the main objective of the workshop was to expose the participants to relevant administrative, financial procedures and skills that would enable them to operate efficiently in their various positions of authority.

According to her, the Provost, Deans and Directors were expected to know their roles and duties as representatives of the vice-chancellor in the faculties and centres as the heads of the arms of administration.

Lafiaji-Okuneye also said that the responsibility of the provost or dean did not end with the provision of space for Colleges/Faculty libraries, but that they must also be involved in the acquisition of reading materials, appointment of a suitable librarian and the general maintenance of the library facilities.

She enjoined them to be familiar with the law establishing the university and encouraged them to have a copy of the LASUED law.
