The Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, Associate Professor Nosiru Olajide Onibon, has described the transmutation of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, AOCOED, and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, MOCPED, to a specialized university, LASUED, as a win – win for all members of staff, management and the government.
Onibon made this assertion while declaring open a one day workshop for selected senior administrative staff on “Roles, Ethical and Moral Obligation in LASUED” held on Tuesday.
He said that although the MOCPED did not turn out to be a specialized university on its own, it was still gladdening that it became a campus of LASUED.
With that, he said, the Lagos State government still deserved commendation.
He said although some staff were not happy about their placement, every change had its gains and pains.

He said there were still chances of reaching the peak of their professions.
He enjoined the senior members of staff not to see their placement following the transmutation to undermining them but a chance for them to be challenged and determined to give their best.
In her keynote address, the Acting Registrar, LASUED, Mrs Omorinola Abiodun George, appreciated the management for the approval of the workshop despite short notice.
George noted that that was the second workshop approved within a short time.
The Acting Registrar implored the participants to equip themselves with the required knowledge to rise to their play their role in order to enhance better performance at job.
Professor Mushay Ogundipe while delivering his paper on “Expected Role Obligations of Senior Registry Staff of LASUED” commended the management for the initiative and timely approval of the necessary training while moving into a new dispensation.
The professor in his presentation said that participants should make sure that all their activities were guided by the philosophy, goals, objectives, core values, vision and mission of the university and serve as role model to their staff.
According to Ogundipe, other expected roles included professional development, comparing obtaining information from colleagues from other institutions and mastering the content of the university law.
He advised the participants to adjust to LASUED status, be determined, ready to learn fast, upgrade in terms of training and accept challenging responsibility.
Dr Abayomi Imam, LASUED Acting Librarian, in his paper, “Expected Ethical and Moral Obligation of Senior Registry Staff of LASUED” listed honesty, integrity, promise keeping, caring, respect for others, law abiding, commitment to excellence, leadership, reputation, moral and accountability as very important in the new dispensation.
Imam expatiated that honesty was the cornerstone of trust, while earning trust of others is built on personal integrity and good character demonstrated.
The Acting Librarian further admonished the senior Registry staff to defend their profession, be fair and just in all, treatment of individuals, respect for others, be conscious of their position and be loyal to achieve the vision of the organisation.
