National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members serving in Ipele community under Owo local government area of Ondo State have sensitised students of some selected schools on personal hygiene.
The awareness programme which took place at Blessing Model, Abundant Grace Omolege, and Supreme College, saw the students being given information about Lassa fever and how best to combat it.
Speaking during the awareness, the Community Development Service group president, corps member Ekwerike Chisom, and the programme coordinator, Musa Salim Yarima, said the sensitisation was to project the fact behind Lassa fever and how to avoid contacting the dreaded disease.
According to Ekwerike Chisom, personal hygiene was the general cleanliness of all body parts and taking adequate care of all the components that make an individual a healthy and happy being.

He said that practising a good personal hygiene comes with lots of benefits such as healthy living while poor hygiene could lead to sicknesses and infections.
“Practising poor hygiene causes serious infections which may invariably lead to numerous diseases and may lead to death if not competently and professionally handled.”
The programme is designed for secondary school students and their teachers in Ipele while the central message is how to practise good personal hygiene to make the society disease free.
The CDS group appreciated the NYSC management for the opportunity provided them to help the citizens live a better life which will translate to building a virile and healthy nation.
