The Faculty of Communications and Media Studies, Lagos State Universities, LASU, has expressed its appreciation to all those who participated in the four-day burial programmes for the renowned Mass Communication scholar, Professor Lai Oso.
Oso was at a time the dean of the faculty.
The gratitude of the faculty was made on Saturday, a day after Oso’s burial, by the Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, FCMS, Professor Sunday Olayinka Alawode, in a statement made available to FrontPage.
The statement reads: “This is to show our gratefulness to all Vice-Chancellors and and all principal officers, Deans, Directors, Professors, HoDs, institutions, associates, colleagues, Deputy-Registrars, Faculty Officers and non-teaching staff, friends, professional associations, Unions, the media, community/religious leaders, and our world class postgraduate and undergraduate students for participation and contributions to the funeral programmes of our communication icon and enigma, Professor Lai Oso, who has gone to eternal rest.
“We appreciate you tremendously and pray the good Lord to preserve and strengthen you with long life and prosperity.”

Oso died on June 24, 2023 at the age of 67 in an auto crash along Ore-Sagamu Expressway when he was returning from Abraka, being an external examiner of Delta State University.
FrontPage reports that the burial programme started on Tuesday with a Special Session of Tribute at the Lagos State University, LASU, on Tuesday.
The session which was held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU, with the Dean, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Professor Sunday Olayinka Alawode as the host witnessed a shower of praises on the late professor.
On Wednesday, the programme, featured “Prof. Lai Oso: A Day of Tributes”, in Abeokuta Ogun State, by Communication Schools; Ogun State NUJ; Ogun NIPR; Media Houses; Colleagues etc.
The programme was held at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta Ogun State.
On Thursday, a wake keep was held at Mercy Hall, Sagamu.
The remains of the scholar were buried on Friday in Sagamu, Ogun State after a well attended funeral service where family, friends, colleagues, students and members of the general eulogized his virtues.
