No fewer than 200 persons have been displaced in Orile Agege local government area of Lagos State following the downpour which started in the early hours of Saturday.
This is according to the spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye.
He said some of the displaced persons were already taking refuge in four churches in the area.

According to him, as at the time of going to press, the Director General of NEMA, Alhaji Mustapha Habib Ahmed, had ordered the immediate release of relief materials to the displaced persons.
Meanwhile, NEMA has warned the people of the state to be very careful, predicting that the rain which started as early as 2.00 a.m. on Saturday might continue for a long time.
The agency said following the downpour, it had, along with other emergency agencies, embarked on assessment exercise at some flash points, discussing with affected populations and proferring immediate solutions for some situations.
Said Farinloye: “Some vulnerable groups have moved to temporary safe facilities while the adults are salvaging their water impacted properties.
“NEMA is assisting the owner of a building that the fence collapsed and the need to salvage the building through the reconstruction of the fence to solidify the base to prevent it from collapsing on the next bungalow.”
