No fewer than 50 persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the clashes at Ile-Epo area of Lagos State on Wednesday and Thursday.
The spokesman of the Police Command in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known in a statement on Thursday.
He explained that the clashes which were between some hoodlums from shanties and youths in the area was put under control by the police.
According to him, the Divisional Police Officer of Oke-Odo, CSP Lekan Ogundare, led his men to the scene and restored normalcy.
Some persons, Hundeyin said, were arrested.

His words: “Over 50 suspects have so far been arrested, while the shanties they occupied have been destroyed, effectively dislodging them.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the prompt prosecution of the arrested hoodlums.
“Fayoade has equally warned that the command would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the peace, in accordance with the law.”
It was gathered that the violence was sparked off following the underpayment of a hoodlum who won in a betting game.
In protest, hoodlums in the area were said to have caused violence.
Displeased by the situation, youths in the area were said to have, however, challenged the hoodlums for disturbing the peace.
It was at that stage that the fight ensured thus shattering the peace of the area.
