The death toll at the site of the 21-storey building which collapsed on Monday has increased to 19 as four bodies have just been recovered.
This is as more bodies were said to have been discovered by the rescue team and that efforts were ongoing to recover them as at the time of filing this report.
However, nine persons have been rescued alive and taken to the hospital according to the update coming from the scene of the disaster.
Meanwhile, Lagos State government is already setting up an independent panel to probe the collapse of the building.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement he signed, members of the panel would be drawn from the Nigeria Institute of Architects, NIA; Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, NITP; Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, and other professional bodies.
“It will independently investigate the remote and immediate causes of the incident and make recommendations on how to prevent future occurrence. The investigation is not part of the internal probe already being conducted by the government,” the commissioner said.
