Imo guber: INEC declares Hope Uzodimma winner

Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial election held in the state on Saturday.

His victory was announced on Sunday by the state Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, at the collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Owerri.

His words: “I, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, I was the Returning officer for the Imo state governorship election held on November 11, 2023. That the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Good Hope Uzodimma, having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the election and returned elected.”

Uzodimma, the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, it was announced, recorded 540,308, to beat others.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Samuel Anyanwu, came second with 71,503 votes; Labour Party, LP, candidate, Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes; the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, recorded 6,392 votes to come fourth while the Action Alliance candidate, Jack Ogunewe, came fifth with 5,756 votes.
